Does anyone know if there is a speedflow type fitting that will adapt from the factory fuel line to an AN size?
Ideally I want to go from the factory hard line, use the factory flexible hose and then adapt to the new fuel rail using a 90 degree AN-8 fitting to whatever the factory connection is.

Thanks for the compliment.
I haven't had it tuned yet. Wife had a baby 7 weeks ago and I've been finding it hard to find any time to do anything lately. Being this busy has given me a chance to pay off the credit card though. :D

The car is running fine since I re-installed the charger, I'm just keeping it off boost.

It's only a short list of things left to do:
1. I need to change the connection from the factory steel fuel lines to the fuel rail, I'm not happy with what I have.
2. Make bracket and install an idler pulley for more belt wrap on the blower.
3. Buy longer belt.

But then there will probaby be 4. Replace head gasket & 5. Replace gearbox

Then after that it will be 6. Buy water/meth injection and retune with more boost

Never ending... haha.

Nothing much has happened.

I got a new stereo for birthday/anniversary.
Finally upgrading old faithful that I've had for 11 years.

It's a JVC 926bt. As the model suggests it has Bluetooth capabilities for phone calls, and music. It can play Wav files from USB, and has time alignment! Finally! I have time alignment.
The OzAudio Matrix Elite splits have just reached another level of awesome.

Another milestone rolled around recently too :(

JVC do an alright head unit.
I have a KDR806BT. Has a few years under its belt now and it is a mighty fine unit.
No time alignment though.

Went on the AAK Christmas cruise, so I borrowed some wheels from a mate.
Fitting these highlighted an inconsistency in spring heights around the car.
Something I need to inspect further.
Image

The Simmons are a great look, but sadly they will be going back to their rightful owner.
The stockies can just be seen as torque limiters for the diff and gearbox once the blower install is finished.

Which brings me to this update. It's small but it's significant.
The last weekend of my break from work I managed to rope in a mate to help me out making a bracket to hold an idler pulley to increase the belt wrap around the blower pulley.

I used his mill to take off one of the bosses on the tensioner to allow the new bracket to mount behind and use one of the bolts.

I used the A/C idler pulley bracket from an EB/ED.
Here it is with it's first cuts for clearance to dummy up the position and decide how much wrap I wanted.
Image

And here's the finished product. We used the top front A/C compressor bolt as the other mounting.

I've got some more to update but it will take me longer to type it all up, and I'm at work, so it will be something for tonight.

Stereo changes:
With the new head unit, and finally having time alignment and other cool features, I decided I needed to change up the system a bit.
I initially had the crossovers tucked up under the dash and this gave me some slight alternator noise through the drivers side speakers. So I have wanted to move them for ages.

I am still using the first amp I ever bought (Kenwood KAC-943) and see no reason to update as I'm not going to enter any comps, SQ or SPL, so as long as I'm happy it'll do.
I like that amp so I thought a matching partner would go well. (KAC-923)

I had been wanting to try out a Boot Baffle/Infinite Baffle for a while as I don't like boomy bass and I listen to a lot of metal with fast kick drums so speed and accuracy is important to me, but so is my boot, so instead of a big sealed box taking up space the only space taken up would be a small section right behind the rear seat by the subs and baffle.
I toyed with the idea of making a tightly sealed removable panel so that I could still utilise some of the pass through of the rear seats, but decided that I hardly ever used it and if I did need it, I'd borrow a ute or something.

I made a cardboard template
Image

Then transferred that to a better cardboard template and took some pics of where it needed more adjustment
Image

Image

Then made the baffle. That's the sub I'll be using, well two of them (VDO Dayton HPS-12)
Image

My local bunnings only had 16mm MDF so I made a second baffle and laminated them.
Image
Just a couple of screws
Image

When fitted, the rear seat just touches the magnets on the subs.. perfect
Image

I still need to add some L-brakets to the baffle in the centre and seal it with sikaflex or something.

With the subs added and the second amp now required, I moved the original 4ch amp from under the passenger seat to the boot and added the new amp.
(Need to tidy up the wiring a bit still)
Image
Image

I didn't have the space to locate the crossovers on the floor as well, and I'd seen another guy locate them in this spot so I thought, "What the hell, it works"
I'll be making small holes just below the crossovers to run the wires behind the trim.
Image
Image

I've started on a false floor and the overall plan is that you wont be able to see anything as it will all be covered with removable panels. Once the panels are removed it will be a nice install to look at, certainly not anything of 'show quality' The only things that wont be covered is the crossovers, so I might relocate them somewhere else, but they'll do fine where they are for the moment.
One thing I didn't take any pics of is the wood I've used to cover up the speaker holes to seal the boot from the cabin. Pretty simple, just circles cut from left over 16mm MDF lined with adhesive neoprene from Clark Rubber and screwed in place over the speaker holes.

Obviously it's all far from finished. Lots of trims to trim and wood to shape, but I'm happy that I can see where it's going, and in reality it isn't that far off being done.

I too am a metal head and because I dont want the doof doof sound I have not opted for larger than an 8" in the factory shelf hole. I have been tossing up the idea of placing a decent sized sub/s behind the back seat, but last car I did that in was an Nc and found the extremely thick back seat of the Nc killed allot of the sound. How do you like the bass response of the behind the back seat placement compared to factory 8" shelf placement of an aftermarket 8"?

I can't really comment on the 8" location. The stock system didn't last long in this car. :D
I'm sure this is a ton better than any 8" will be in the parcel shelf.
This has a really good kick, but isn't boomy. It would probably get even better with a bit more power. Each sub is only being fed 135wrms or so, but I'm really happy with it.

There is very little difference with the seats up or down in this config.
I did notice a big difference with the seat up or down when I had a single sub in a box. I found it best with the box placed right at the boot lock, facing backwards.

Damn shame about those Simmons, I took one look and blew my load all over my leg. Minus the clear side indicators my Fairmont looks almost the same from outside but has sharkfins, I now want those Simmons and in turn will be divorced when I eventually come home with a pair. I hope your happy

Nice install there mate, looking great so far - can't wait to see the finished product 8-)

Those VDO Dayton HPS12's are a very nice sub, I almost bought 1 before I ended up with my current sub's. Apparently they were identical to the Peerless XLS

Yeah, they were built by peerless for VDO. Slightly different specs to the XLS, but same build quality :D
And they only cost me a total $70.... One was a freebie though :)
