Ah k. so you only need ef holders for the dash, what about the trip computer and climate control? or are they fine?
Might send him a PM and enquire, sounds like a good bloke.

Nice. yea, great community for caring and sharing! :)
Im just a bit worried about how im going to go about it cause I read that it took you 2 hours :/
Why so long??

SLO247
No worries. I was a bit worried about the quality of hong kong for some reason, thats why i went UK. Let me know if it does last, so i can invest in a set for the rear as it is a bit indented.

It's a very awkward piece to wrap vinyl around unfortunately, due to the shapes and curves etc. I had to use lots of heat to form the vinyl around the curves and stuff and it took an age to get things to look good. Mine's far from perfect, but it's about as good as I could get it without going insane

S**t always has to turn out like that ay? Just hope it works for me because mine is actually contact paper and i have no idea of how it will react to heat. Hopefully it does react and turn out like yours (which is amazing, to me). Id be stoked if i manage to get a result even close to that. :)

Heres a lil cluster design i came up with, not sure if its the final yet, but ill do a bit more tinkering and see what happens. :)
What do you think?
The plan is to have 2 layers; plain black in the day (with badges) and the stars lighting up at night...

Hey mate,
both the odo read out and trip computer need the EF bulb holders too.
I used white SMDLEDs in mine to really brighten the filters I whacked in.
Or you could use whatever colour and use a white filter,
not sure how it'd look though.

Hope this helps, man.

Cheers,
REW93N.

How would you go about making the stars etc light up during the light time, and not be visible during the day?
They looks awesome though, mighty similar to mine, :P

Yea just did a complete check of my globes and its just the blue holders that are fixed, the rest are removable.
Well, The plan is to have 2 layers, the layer showing will be the blank one on photo paper, and the layer behind will be the one with the stars on thin plain paper. i doubt it will work but its worth a shot :)
Thanks. yea just realised that when i saw yours. didn't even realise :/ i guess Ghia owners think alike :P

Yeah mate,
Ghia owners are a breed of their own.
I'll be keen to see how it looks when it's all printed.
What are you planning to print it on?
Take it from me,
one sheet of regular A4 paper is NOT enough.
I had to go back to stock dials, because it just looked crap.

Sure are buddy!
So will I... :)
Im planing to do 2+ layers, layer 1 with no stars will be photo paper which is about twice as thick as plain paper, layer 2 will be on plain paper with stars, and i might add a layer 3 of photo paper just to even things out. if it does look crap, ill probably do the same and leave it stock.

Can't wait for the SMD LED's to come though, im basically changing all the instrumentation (trip comp, climo control screen and buttons, demist, aerial, DASH, and gear selector :)

Post it all up when you do you're entire light make over,
because Im pumped to do all of mine.
My demister and aerial lights are coming on at the moment... Im not sure why actually. I should look into that.
How are you doing your climo control? I think you need to resolder everything if you want to do the filter.

Don't worry mate i will!
Same here!
What do you mean? isn't that supposed to be a good thing??
The climo, im just straight swapping the globes. pretty simple, just unscrew the 4 philips heads on each corner and just gently pull the whole thing out, then you can get to the globes.
Farrrout they get hot!! heres a pic of what the globes look like and behind the panel...
Image
Not really going to worry about filters, might play around in the future when i get board.

Yeahhhh shiit me,
mine were like that too.
And the plastic is all gooey and yummy tasting... haha
I replaced the bottom two lights with LEDS but found if you change the top one, it causes the orange to dim :S Even though its a brighter light.
Must have something to do with the filter itself.

Yea, you wouldn't expect it, imagine a car with twice as many k's!
It would be practically black!!!
Yea id expect youd get an effect like that. Its because the led is so bright that it shines right through the filter! its kinda like ur dash when you had the paper! the only way u would fix it is to get denser paper.

Yeah aye...
hopefully I've fixed that by printing off the same cluster on photo paper. It'd be better... well... I hope so.
