This here is my 1997 EL Fairmont Ghia, currently being used as the family barge... We baugh her around september last year to replace our ever faithful... camira. So, to us, it was a big jump.
From the documentation that came with the car, I saw it had been owned by many a car ethusiast. (reciepts for Bendix Brake pads, K&N Filters, exhaust, suspension, etc.) It is also originally from NSW and sadly has a bit of hail dentage here and there. But its hardly noticable from a distance.
Anyway, she came with many goodies such as: Pedders sports ryder springs, shocks, caster and camber kit , Extractors (hi tech or hurricane), mild exhaust (2 1/4 cat back, rear mufler removed. gives a nice note but very loud) and EL GTs (fakeys). Also a factory sunroof :)
Here are a few pics of the beast.

When we first got her. :D

Before she was raised (luckily i kept the springs :))

After; 1 inch higher

Since we've had her, I've done a few mods here and there:
Nice Black Plates

Shift Kit!!!

Premo Head unit AUX

Door Handle Lights

NL cornering Lamps
Image
And some new chrome strips Just to freshen things up

Heres a few fotes with her older bro sadly leaving us soon :(

My favourite

still have a few mods in mind so stay posted.
P.S: sorry for all the photos. You know how it is, too many to choose from...

Very nice! Love the wheel and colour combination too. Looks bloody clean.

Where did you get the new chrome strips from? I need some for my doors too.

Thanks mate, its clean, but nowhere near as clean as the XE (original 30,000Ks)

Anyways, got them on ebay from a UK supplier. The measurments are 12mm wide by 3mm deep. A 12 metre roll should do the whole car. If your car is just a fairmont, you won't need as much.
Heres a link

He doesn't seem to be selling right now so you might have to look elsewhere.

Cheers mate! i think its a great combination!

Anyway, found some 'el cheapo' woodgrain contact paper thats just about identical to the stuff found in the car, just needs to be the tinyest bit darker and glossier. a bit of clear coat should do the trick.
Might stick a bit here and there, see what it looks like. Im thinking mainly around the facia inside the instrument cluster after a dash redesign and some smd leds. When i get time anyways.

It'll be interesting to see mate,
might hit it up if it looks any good :P

What colour SMDLEDs are you going?
Im sure you know,
but if its anything other than white/incandescent you'll have to either get EF needles or hit the back of your gauge needles with nail polish remover to get rid of the orange paint on the back of them.

Looking mint mate,

Should look good! (well in my head it does anyway)

Im thinking of going just plain brilliant white. I like the clean look of it and the fact that white is the only colour that can clearly ommit multiple colours. It should go well with my dash design as well! (i might post up some pics of the design later)
I was reading one of your posts on the smd leds and apparently you need ef bulb holders for the dash lights, is that right? just need to know so i can get a set if required.
Where can i get some smd leds btw??

Yea, im going for class over fast, for now. I just like those mods that make your car look different but not make you look like a dik.
By the way, i'm considering pinching your idea of rapping the instrument facia in carbon fibre, but with wood grain, if thats ok with you and all :P hopefully it will turn out just as well.

Yeah man, you need some EF bulb holders to replace the dash globes in the EL as they are all non-removable. (I found that out the hard way.. Snapped one straight in half with a pair of needle noses. Had glass everywhere.) Six for the cluster illumination, and an extra 3 for trip computer and odometer read out if you plan to change the filters. White works excellent for that.

I got mine from this bloke (Futuraclassic on Fordmods)
{DESCRIPTION}
They look unreal at night.

He also does 4 SMDLED T10s (Has 4 SMDLEDs per light), so for your courtesy lights, parkers etc.
Really good bloke/retailer.

Good luck with it all,
looking forward to seeing progress.

Cheers,
Russ.

Lol, fine by me! It's Fordmods after all, we're all about sharing idea's and s**t

I'd actually like to see how it turns out though, should work well with the rest of the woodgrain I reckon 8-)

Thanks for the help with the chrome. Ordered some from Hong Kong in that size, should be here in a few weeks. Even cheaper too! Hopefully it lasts more than a few months.
