Just recently bought a new car to replace my EF mont. Its a 1998 EL Fairmont ghia with 170 XXX on the clock. Its in reasonable order for its age. Picked it up for $2400. Paints in good order as its had a re spray at some point in its life. The interior is pretty average so i'm going to be fixing that up as i go. The plan is to swap my AU XR engine from my current EF into the EL.

It has a sunroof (not sure if factory fitted) Overall the panels are straight ect.

The interior isnt in great condition. The seats are pretty buggered so i'm trying to suss out what i do with them. Would love to source some good condition cappa seats! I also thought about AU/BA seats but most of them normally come in black and i don't think black would suit the cappa?

I have a good grey interior in my EF, is there anyway that could get dyed?
The carpet has some burns in it which annoys me a lot! i have a spare carpet which i'm going to get steam cleaned and get it smelling really nice then ill swap that over. I have plans to put Dynamat through the car so i'll wait until i get some until i replace the carpet as i'll most likely lay some down on floors to deaden a little bit of noise. And the doors and boot were going to come next.

The door trims aren't to bad apart from the woodgrain spear on the divers door is broken. I have a good spare set of trims that will be going on as well. But as i said, i'll wait until i have the dynamat so i can get everything done when i pull the door trims off. Clean any surface rust off inside the door, grease up all the window winders, replace the speakers and fix the central locking. Then its all done at once!

The last major disappointment in the interior is the sagging roof lining which i've heard can be fixed for around $200? So in time i'll get that attended too!

I plan to get the interior to a good standard that's neat, looks good an quiet. Hopefully the dynamat will work a treat if used on the floor and doors

Started swapping bits and pieces from my EF mont across onto the Ghia. The ghia headlights were s**t and faded and the EF had new lights about 2 years before so i had to swap them over! Next was to swap the turning lamps! They are installed but aren't wired up as of yet. And the next was to swap the grill as i wasn't a fan of the lane grill on the Ghia. Looks much better now i think?

thinking about maybe putting mesh behind it for something different. Might try it and see how it looks as i've seen a few and they look pretty good!

Inspiring shot! Even though its only a mont still looks really good! Hopefully get mine to look something like that in time. Most likely be running my EL GTs with SL or maybe even just lows as i'm sick of having my car scrap over every bump!!! See how i go :P Wouldn't mind a nice Ticky kit one day as well just to top it off with the sunroof.

Thats a very nice EL Ghia. Looks alot better with the Fairmont grille on it...The Fairlane grille didn't suit it.

Very nice looking car mate ! As others have said the change to the Fairmont grill really suits the car. Lucky bugger with a sunroof, would love to have one on my car. The GT wheels also need to go on this car :D

Yeah I've been searching for a long time for a Ghia with a sunroof! Waiting finally paid off :p
Can you get new sunroof seals??? No one seems to give me a n answer haha. I guess maybe i should ring up Ford.
Yeah the plan is to swap the GT's across as soon as i get the car lowered a little bit. I have a few plans for the car!

First want to tidy the interior up. So i'll swap the carpet over with my newer cleaner carpet with Dynamat over portions of the footwells. Looking at getting a good 'cheapish' Momo wheel if thats possible? haha And i need new seats bad!!! (:

Get my AU engine across sometime. Need to respray the front bumper as there are scratches on the front left corner if you can see

Roofliner sag problem as usual haha.
