Time has come to move on
My rebuilt bottom end got wet during a few days of rain in a row. I no longer wish to spend money on the ED as we all know you never get it back with old old (not rare) cars. It will cost too much to rebuilt it again as last time my father already had the kit rings bearing ect ect sitting in his shed of parts like most ex mechanics. I have decided to move on to a 04 - 07 XR6T, but will keep driving my sisters Vitara till she gets her licence and i keep building on my deposit. All those with an interest for parts from my car and collection have a look at this new sale thread. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=88367 Regards, Michael.

both are currently complete, but one (EF) is uncovered so water would be slowly runing into the intake, im not worried.

I had a look at the cylinders yesterday and the oil i smothered on seems to have done something good has the rust wiped off, i was pretty worried as it was the open block with no head, i was keen to pull the sump off and clean it again to check the piston rings has water would have seeped down and the sealed rings would hold it there.
I know as soon has i uncover everything there clouds will unleash ill try again tomorrow. I guess im just too attached to the car to part it out. After watching many items on ebay my car is worth 1000 - 1500 together but over 2000 parted. The xr6 lights go crazy on ebay

The Xr lights will sell for a good amount on Ebay, that's for sure, i was just watching a set, i don't want to buy, but i have a set & grill in the shed (not for sale), in better nick than those just sold.
Don't part it out man, pull the sump off, clean the bottom end with wd40, relube it, reassemble it, get the head on so it's easier to keep water out of it, then you can play with it more later. But get into it before it does get beyond being worth it! Cheers ToranaGuy

the problem with parting out is waiting for people
getting the old "ill take it" and never hearing from them again or "oh i got the band details wrong even tho i COPIED IT FROM YOU" and "it bounced back" thats some of the answers i get when i sell things. just keep it and let the love for boxcars grow |

People wanting the doors, then never finalizing the pickup details, people saying they want something, then 2 days later they don't want it anymore. People who say they will show up for X bit & never do. Can be annoying, but i was pulling the car apart to fix 2 Xr8's anyway, so it didn't matter so much. What does matter is how long you have the "bomb" sitting around slowly getting stripped. Anyway, keep it man, it's not worth the hassle of parting it out. Fix the issues & have fun driving it. Cheers ToranaGuy
