Hi,

Im looking at upgrading the fuel system but dunno how to go about it, so what's a few good idea's

ED XR6 fuel regulator and injectors?

AU injectors?( would like to use these as i already have some)

J3 chips seem to be fairly popular, are they a plug and play thing? And what size injectors and regulator should i run with it all to suit my T5 and Wade 1673?? and after this will the fuel pump still be up to the challenge?

Any help would be appreciated,

Michael.

a XR6 reg wont upgrade the fuel much, tho i head BA units fit??? and are a higher pressure, go the AU injectors, they will flow plenty for the N/A application, otherwise i heard you can use the E-series V8 units for more flow.

im sure a rising rate reg would be ok?

J3 are plug and play if you buy it pre tuned, but it also opens you up for custom tunes on a dyno. most places now have the units to tune these

hey huggie,

So fit the Au injectors and get a pre tuned J3 chip, does it make a difference what ECu you use it with.

you will need to use an EL ECU for the J3 as i dont think they work on EA-ED just yet.

but yes id throw a 300kpa fuel reg, au injectors and a J3 pre tuned and see how it goes

wont matter what EL ECU you use as with the J3 it will overwrite whatever is ont he ECU, so you can use a GLi ECU running a XR6 tune

I thought the J3's supported any EEV IV ecu?

Sounds like some good plans dude. If i was going to definatly keep my Eb Ghia I6, i'd go for a larger fuel reg, bigger in tank pump & a J3 tune. I've got to pull the rocker gear to swap one noisy lifter out, so i'm thinking about going real ghetto & advancing the cam 1 tooth, i have read of good results in doing that to stock engines.....

Cheers

ROFL.

Thx dude. I do know what i'm doing, after some trial and error. lol. I have a megasquirt up & running on the test bench finally! Soon i will be playing with the sensors that are attached to the F6a EFI intake setup to see if i can get them working with the Megasquirt or if i have to replace with ford or holden sensors to get the job done. I might even create a test bed to sit my smokey but running F5a engine on so i can hookup the manifold & see how it goes. I plan on controlling fuel first, get that right, then i will run timing via my custom F8b dizzy, running a ford pickup & bocsh TFI module. :D

Anyway, back O.T - if you have a EA - ED & don't know about timing, get a workshop to setup your J3 chip, save you blowing a motor up.

Cheers

Might have just got my hands on a xr6 reg for $20, are they interchangeable without removing the fuel rail? put that with my Au injectors and get the J3 or is it worth buying Xr6 injectors that were cleaned 50k ago?

Regards.

stock AU injectors will be big enough for what you need.

you can change the fuel reg without removing the fuel rail but it can be a pain as there isnt much room, but is doable

So i have my own running car again,

A 1992 EB ghia

Its a bit of a mess but the mechanicals are fantastic.

The sellers had a reserve of $3500

But after getting down to Melbourne the nose has had a light knock cracking a headlight plastic mounting clip and moved the bumper. The general car was not as described by her partener and i managed to talk her down to a mere $1500. I have receipts for the reco T5 not including labour or the new clutch, and more receipts for a head reco, a new radiator and a diff service.

I am happy with the cars drive line as the gearbox and clutch are very tight and i think the LSD has a nice ratio being 3.27. There is a slight oil leak from the head gasket unfortunately but i have a wade cam ready to go so there's an excuse to fit it.

Now i just have to find some time to work on the car as i work 8an - 4pm 5 days a week and only get to miss GF on weekends, Looks like my afternoons will be getting much busier.

From now on all "missions" will be listed on a to do list keeping to a few things at a time so the car is always drivable the next morning.

There is a problem with changing down to 3rd thou, Changing up through 3rd is fine but it wont go down to 3rd unless i put it in 2nd then third i just keep clutch in.

I will be using parts of my last car but doing straight swaps to keep both cars as complete as possible in order to sell the ED to recover funds as parting is very time consuming and i don't want to be left with lots of parts laying around.

Will post progress pictures once worthy of such.

Regards.

Very cool dude. Yeah it can be time consuming to part out a car, but it can also be very worth while $$$ wise.

Cheers
