Also, near or under the coolant bottle, have a look for a little metal rectangle, i think it has a yellow & purple wire to it, they are thick 30 or 40amp wires. This is a fuse for the headlights. My mate had a lot of issues with his headlights working for a bit then cutting out, then after a bit they would just come back on. Turned out this fuse was rusted up inside.

Relays can play up if the terminals are corroded, or the socket they fit into.

Cheers

Hey guys,

I have the top dash, ecu, engine block earth's hooked up, just going to check the Aircon one.....

Its raining....

Toranaguy checking for corrosion is something to check as its been sitting since September IIRC

On another note got me some 25mm and 30mm sway bars today, freight was just $30 with greyhound charters, and my pleather shifter to finish off the gear stick.

Nice swaybars, I'd love to upgrade mine, but too many other things to do first.

Cheers

Yep they look great there about 12months old, dont have any wear on them. They are god damn heavy thou! Wont be fitting them for a while yet, i did find my stash of those red bushes for the entire front end which i scored from a EB wreck.

Dad has owned a few cabs for over 20years and turns out his good friends with the guys that do all the electrical installation to the cabs. He has offered to work on the car tomorrow between smaller jobs,.,.,.,.,.,. for free! I just have to get it there which will require trailer hire, o well shouldn't complain.

I have no doubt this guy has the ability and knowledge but im still worried and trying to keep my hopes up and wouldn't mind not paying trailer hire to get it home .

I got plenty to do to the car once its running i just don't feel like doing them until its running.

First i wanna finish the interior

Clear LED's in foot wells, roof, boot, rear of console, cluster, clock.
Hidden Cup holders! without opting for EF EL console.
Single shade 2 tone black and grey dash and plastics making it different but clean and simple.

I want at least my drivers seat to be the recaro style screw the others lol. I have the recaro ghia leather in the EB but the fronts are rooted of course. Is there a way i can fit the passenger front from the ghia into the drivers side of the ED?? i would have to cut up the seat i got now and try recover the recaro to suit the interior making it like the ED ghia seats.

From there i would move to fitting the
Ghia LSD 8-)
pedders sway bars
Organise J3
I think i might leave the wade and new valve stem seals out for now until i finish the other engine.

After this i will continue to work on the engine i tried to rebuild, i will check and rebuild the bottom end as i found this the easy part. From there i will fit an acid dipped stock head with the 1673 and top off with a EL cover. Finally set it up with the more reliable serpentine belt and finish it off with the BBM running all running off a J3 EL ECU.

After this the engine will be ready for a basic turbo set up(get opens in November), something like this...

viewtopic.php?p=1132366#p1132366

I will be happy with a safe 200 Reliable RWKW( famous last words )

Unless i go ahead with a carpenter mature age job meaning ill need a ute, then ill just go for a 04 - 07 BA XR6T drool. Maybe keep the ED and get a trailer!

I have my eyes out for wheels i like the ones i got but want 18 or 19's either BA XR8 style or even better BA GT, only ever in E series offset. So if the time is right ill pick some up.

My mate has a Navara with an S14 SR20 black top which is quoted to have 162kw(engine) from stock. Im hoping to keep up with him, his car really struggles until the 3g mark, and because of the much smaller engine bay his pipe work is incredible restrictive. His grandfather has some incredible and i have been invited to go to SEMA! with my mate his dad and grandfather. Not till next year thou. He also knows a dyno and said that we can go on a Saturday if we give him notice and his got free time as the shops closed weekends normally. I am going to ask him if his interested in dealing J3 chips as then i could get mine tuned there.

This is how i sort my thoughts haha just type away easier then writing.

Thanks for you interest, feel free to post,

Regards.

With the front seats, I don't think you could use a passenger seat for a drivers seat, the seatbelt stalk will be in the wrong place... The rails won't bolt up on the floor either.

BUT you could remove the seat covers & foam, then put them on the drivers seat. It would be much easier to just hand your drivers seat over to a good motor trimmer & have it repaired. I had my drivers side full leather seat repaired, wasn't too expensive, seat is almost like new, not quite tho, i didn't have a full refoam & retrim, only a repair job, but it's great none the less!

I hope you get that electrical issue sorted dude! Good luck with it.

Cheers

i don't see why the seat belt wouldn't fit on the other side, i guess changing the seat foams around would work, but i can't have one leather seat it wont match ill have to do both front seats but i still want them ED ghia style trim.

cheers.

The 5th trailer hire place we found had a car trailer but the jockey wheel doesn't lock into position but we just tied it up...

Get down the road first intersection on te way home to get the car, we brake and the trailer comes off, Well f**k that trailer then went back and got our money back, all this and it didn't stop raining for a second.

Will have to wait till next weekend or when the guy has space to look at the car.

FML

Off to cement some brick work in on my drive way so the falcon fits up there and the bricks dont slide down the hill every time i drive up there.

If it drys up ill get a start on removing the LSD diff from the Ghia and get it ready for the ED.

Cheers

Seat rails differ from side to side. If you swapped rails it might work.

Trailer fell off? What happened man? Hitch fail?

Cheers

I just realised something, both you and Matt (EVL098) both have problems starting although Matt's NF starts after a while of being warm

I cant warm it up cause it wont start

Its just an electrical issue, its got to be the auto ecu not letting it start and or corrosion on some fusable links ect.

Ill let charlie the auto elec work it out when his free next.

Cheers.

Welllllll,

You guys where right haha,

The black brake pedal plug goes into a white socket which is total sh|t. As i had a black plug into a black socket it was screwing the rear lights and the blown fuse issues.

Also there is 2 plugs coming off the washer bottle 2nd is for wagons rear window.... i had 2 plugged in and it caused the problems for everything else.

The guy i took it too works for yellow cabs and has worked on 100's of each model falcon and from telling him the things that where happening he was able to look in the right place as if his fixed it before.

While i had his time i got him to have a look at the headlights so now the XR low beams stay on when using the high beams. After picturing the wiring in his head he spliced 2 wires together and BOOM working.

So 30min's and $100 later it's was fixed. I drove it home from the servo that we hired the trailer from and it drives fine. I took it easy as its got stale fuel for sure and needs a service.

So tonight we did a oil service and general clean up. We are doing some trial and error with a noisy pulley/bearing and after removing 1 belt at a time we think its the ALT. We are swapping it over for a 100A from i got from... somewhere, but to fit it we had to get the fu cking 5 rib pulley and swap it for the 3rib both of which on ridiculously tight. Dinner stopped all work till tomorrow, just have to bolt on the another Alt now that the pulley is right.

Once my mate buys a new fuel pump for his car will we both be off for a dyno run at his grandfathers, mates workshop to get a print out to send to the guys for a J3 mail order chip.

Depending how long i have to wait for my mate ill be fitting the swaybars and LSD.

Still not sure if i should fit my 1673 to thing engine or to the engine i eventually finish.

I will be fitting my spare engine and auto into the EB ghia i got and selling it off to recover some funds. After thats out of the way i can sort out what parts i do and don't need and have a big clean up before commencing to finally rebuild an engine worthy of thrashing.

Only thing with the ED is that the T5 still wont pull into 3rd on a down shift... will do some research.

Will be booking it in for a roadworthy and set it up with some rego.

Any ways thank for reading,

Regards.
