Again its not that im agaisnt doing the wiring, but on same note not interested in using the EF loom ecu ect.

Im looking at using AU VCT
with EL everything else

This sounds good

throw in an AU motor change the AUX shaft over with one from your EB motor, drop in the dizzy grind off the sump fins on the front or mod the k frame and then match it up to an EL ECU. Add the few extra wires in for BBM switching and thermos if you want. tho i prefere the davis craig thermo switch as you have more control over the temp.

That sounds very do-able

yeah AU with EL electrics sounds the best way for you i believe. i dont think you will have any issues with it. but make sure you find yourself an EL BBM as the AU's are different and will require a bit of work to get working (map sensor sits under the throttle body where as EF/EL there is a hose that runs from the back of the BBM to the map sensor)

have a look at this mate. This one if for installing a non VCT engine into a
boxcar.

documents.php?d=85

I know you are looking at the VCT engine as am I but the accesories Are the same as far as I know. I think you will find you need to put spaces in to fit the air compressor and make brackets for the altinator.

Hey everyone,

Didnt have anything planned for today but this arvo when i started to wash the car i remembered to ting ting ting ting when i was driving yesterday, damn rock in tyre for sure i thought. No, i was wrong it was a shelf tapping screw, pulled it out but it had gone all the way through. After a repair job the tyres good to go, ill see how the tyre goes if it goes down to fast ill have to get a new tyre. I dont know the technique which i used to repair the tyre but dad showed me how to do it a while ago.

Also i was looking at the damage on the mudflaps from them scraping when i go over good old speed bumps or reverse out of the drive-way.

I was toying with the idea of shortening them, i know most ppl will say "just take them off" but i dont mind the mudflaps. So after marking them using the grinder for a fast cut then filing and sanding in smooth this is what i turned out with. Ive only done 1 and havnt fitting it to the car as it was a spare one not one from the car. Will fit it tomorrow see how it looks then wll decide if i want to shorten all of them.

Dont be shy to leave a reply with Your opions or constructive criticism,

Im one of the guys that usually says take the mudflaps off, but i reckon that looks a lot better than before

Not hanging down as low now so shouldnt be too much of a pain with scraping. After carrying a full load of people around in my Mont when going for a cruise to town, i found out a real quick way of shortening them  so i took them off and it looks heaps better.

Have you tried colour coding them to the paint work i.e painting them white? I dunno how it would look, but just throwing the idea out there :)

Thanks for your reply,

I kind of hoped that because they scrape everytime i leave the house they might eventually become shorter but the flaps flex and have only shorten a bit.

Also yes i did think about colour coding them but that would make them stick out more possibly giving a rally car look. If anything i would paint them black along with the complete door molds, front bumper and rear bumper.

Regards,

Michael
