Timken do make good bearings, but I have never had a problem with repco wheel bearings to be honest. Failed bearing I had was a cbc packaged kit. Make sure you take a RACV/NRMA/Whatever group card with you if you don't have a trade card, so you can get 10% off the price if they are not already on sale. (I can't remember what is & isn't on sale week to week lol).

If you don't have a cash trade card, ask the guys/girls behind the counter for a form to get one, you do enough work on your car's to warrant it. If you want to know a bit more about a cash trade card, pm me. ;-)

Cheers

Thanks mate,

I will deffinately look into this. I have spent a bit at Repco lately!

Cheers,
Mick

because that defeats the purpose of owning an older car

example, my father in law drives a 310,00km AUII Futura, pensioner, does not spend a cent on it at all since he bought it 4 years ago. It drives great, does the job even though it needs some work here and there

and here i am with my new AUII Ghia low kms, im replacing everything that looks shot whilst doing necessary repairs, spending a friggin heap, honestly after the coin im spending i could finance another couple k and buy something alot better :?

moral is, idiots spend money on cars, the smart ones drive them into the ground, then polish them up before sale and make their money back

Got stuck into the DC today! Not much left of her now! Interior except the dash gutted, front guards, doors and boot lid off. Now I just have to get the dash, full wiring loom and the motor and box out and the shell will be off to scrap. Bit of a pity really, the shell turns out to be almost perfect.......not a spot of rust anywhere, not even in the sills or rear dog legs

Pity I need to clear the space, or I would just hang onto it and perhaps rebuild it from a bare shell up. Must admit, it has been fun pulling it apart........not so sure it would be as easy putting it all back together again :P

Well, it seems my love of the old LWB boxcar's has rubbed off on my daughters boyfriend. He just picked up a mint NC Fairlane for $500 (requires blue slip), but from the pic's he's shown me, it looks pretty tidy! No prizes for guessing what colour it is

Time to upgrade the security on my parts shed me thinks

He's just on his P's, so it's a 4.0l. The mint bit is open to interpretation. But $500 seems to be a fair price regardless, we'll just have to wait and see how much difference there is between what a 17yo considers to be "mint" condition and what I feel it's worth.

And a big NO Huggie, there will be no frankenstein creations happening with the wife's wagon. I think the fairwagon's are just plain but ugly! :P

I probably won't see it until he get's the thing registered anyway. I have already had the daughter and him both hassling me to bring it here so "he" can work on it............not gunna happen champ!

lol. That's funny stuff there Ash.

NCIILANE -> I'd say that for the money, if the blue slip list isn't very long it's probably going to be a good car, but unless it was from some old dude who drove it to church on sundays & didn't park next to anyone, it won't be "mint".....

Cheers
