Here in NSW, it is a 2mm thick aluminium diamond that is pop rivetted to the number plates.
Here's one on the old plates.

Just had a thought.......if I sell my LPG system, I won't have to deface the plates.....and I could buy a T5 manual conversion........hmmmm, it's so crazy, it just might work :D

Drill a hole in the red square badge and screw it in using one of the existing screws that mount the plate top the car

That's what I did to keep it out of the way.

You can still get the stickers, just use some clear contact and stick it to your number plate covers but that probably wont matter anyway if you're doing the conversion to "dedicated petrol" hehe.

Do the T5 conversion Mick, it would transform your car or better still, buy a V8 station wagon and convert it to a manual.

I miss the T5 that was in my station wagon big time now  but with the auto back in, at least it's easier to tow heavy boats and stuff....

The LPG sticker comes seperate to the plate. You just rivet the plate on and then put the sticker on top.
So just neglect to rivet the plate on.

just put real small rivets into the badge then cut the backs off them, a tab of glue to hold them there, then use double sided tape to the numberplate.. no one will know unless you remove it

So many idea's :? I think for now I won't do anything about putting them on. Will be making my mind up very soon about the LPG, but to be honest, I don't want it anymore.....just concerned about the effect of removing all the lpg gear and the holes it is gunna leave...........probably won't be too bad.
Fist thing first though......gunna return the lane back to normal.......except for the lowered bit and zorst. Even the stock wheels will be making a return.......sleeper much
The mags, leather and anything else of value will find themselves on a wagon......when I eventually find one  Just missed out on a nice EB with low k' ED motor a couple of days ago. :x
