Damn Mick.

Pleased you and the Lane are mostly unscathed.

I trust the rest of the Christmas break treated you better.

Good stuff on the luck front... And, I guess, there must have been a little skill involved too mate. Just a little - but without the little bit of skill it could have been worse.

A golfer always tries to get a hole in one after all - It's just that you need a good bit of luck to pull it off...

In this instance, you could increase your luck by having the right tyre, stepping on and off gas where appropriate and having an adult size set of nappies.

You know what? There are many many many "lucky" stories like this out there. If all this luck hadn't been on all our collective sides over the years there would be many many many more bad road statistics...

If everyone who had a close shave wrote it down and sent it to the authorities they may have fixed the puddle that caused the aquaplane............

glad to hear your ok mick. i had a similar thing today, slight left hand corner, with water on the side of the road, hit the water and didnt feel like aquaplaning but it felt like someone behind was pushing me towards the oncoming traffic... but luckly i held on to it and avoided an incident.

Never much fun Mick.
So you are the winner of the creased seat cover award for December.
You would have got some pretty good vacuum with the old sphinter puckering up on those leather seats...............

Exactly what I was going to say.

Good to hear that you are okay mate. Scary rides are bad, especially on wet roads in a car.

I just finally found the info on your exhaust. After having numerous people today tell me it could not be done if you dont mind I will print the pics out and take to the guy I normally use when he is open again.
If I may be so rude what did it cost you roughly to have done Mick? Just wondering if it might be worth the drive up to have it sorted on my boat.

I had the same troubles mate, but it end up costing me around $700. Had to have it done on a do & charge basis as it was a full custom setup. Let me know if you want the details of the guy that did it up here....or you may have already found them earlier in the build thread???

I finally returned to the scene of the crime yesterday arvo when it was dry, and to say I was lucky is a massive understatement

The road off the roundabout had recently been resurfaced as they had put in those silly traffic lights to stop traffic in certain directions from using the roundabout in busy periods. The point where I lost traction is where the new surface ends and the old road starts, and I was thinking that it was actually on a straight section of the road, but it slightly bends to the left for quite a distance after leaving the roundabout.

Well.....time to move on eh! I'm OK, the cars OK, will just have to tick this one off as a lesson learnt. 2 tonnes of car needs to be driven carefully in the wet.......very carefully.

i remember heading down to cams place on the south side of brisbane and i made a stop off to see a lady friend, and along with way i had to go through about 6 roundabouts on a 2 lane street and there was a chick in a little excel that kept trying to race me through the roundabout, well after halfway through the first one it started to slide a bit but i kept it under control (mind you i didnt race what so ever) by the 2nd one she tried to get past quick and as i came out of the roundabout she realised very quickly that sometimes a big car needs 2 lanes to exit... the thing was i would have let her past, but the second we got on a straight she backed right back and only wanted to fly past mee on a roundabout.. silly people.

i have definitely learnt to give the lane a wide birth around corners, you never know where it will take you at times. at least in nsw you have desent roads, up here they just patch them up and spray a layer of oil on top.. well thats what it feels like

thats hardly damaged at all... if it was a falcon it would have needed a new radiator suport panel but a lane has aprox 10meters before the radiator suport panel lol

change the bumper grill and bonnet and sell it off again at a profit

How do you go about bidding on it. You would have to register and pay buyers premiums and all that crap eh???
