Nope. No point. I have advertised it here first and nobody was interested. I don't want a heap of tyre kickers & otherwise curious FM folk chewing up the count of people genuinely watching the auction.

Will we be seeing a build thread for it?

I already have one! no need for two when I change cars "almost" as regularly as Phill!

Haha, you don't change that often Mick. But on the other hand Phill's EA has been around for a few months now.

Once the wagon goes, your back yard will be a sea of maroon boxcars. What colour is the AU. Your work truck isn't far off that colour too.

Good score mate :wink:

Thanks Ash,

The Triton is a "little" brighter. The colour is red planet. Will be even brighter when I get it back at the end of the week after a new front clip is put on. I hit a big a** Roo a couple of weeks ago when I was away for work up near the North West Qld border. Bonnet, and most of the front drivers side was trashed :evil:

Luckily the AU is white so it will break up all of the red going on at my place. He is being a bit funny still about selling it to someone he knows. Perhaps there is a problem with it he is not letting on about :roll:

But either way, there are a few ex-highway patrol AU's on the market at the moment, and the missus would prefer a manual and my mates car is auto, so I might have just bought myself a little time with the LTD to find the right car for her. The LTD still has rego till mid August, so she can run around in that for a while until I find her the right one.

Let me know if you see any nice manual AU XR8's on the market, doesn't have to be an ex-chaser. Will have to spot you a finders fee for the right one :wink:
Cheers,
Mick

Funny you should say that. There is one on evilbay now I have been eyeing off. I think it was going for about $700 with auto :)
But if I had a decent shed, I would take the opportunity to pull the tired donk out of the LTD and try my hand at a full rebuild, even a stroker would be nice in an LTD :wink:

I was expecting to pay between $6-8k for my mates AUII, so somewhere around that would be good. I have seen a white AU ex-chaser with manual box going for $5k, was very tempted. I think it is down south near the Gong.
I'm in no rush mate as I want to make sure I get her a good one, as it will be her daily. Probably looking to pick something up between mid to late July, early August, once we get through tax time and check the finances. Then I will know exactly how much I can afford to fork out.

The collision with the Roo was a bit freaky. We were travelling back from a place called Bonshaw on the Qld border to Glenn Innes where we were staying. We got away later than we wanted (about 4pm) and I was just telling my apprentice stories about roo accidents when this big f**k came out of the bush from nowhere. I was doing about 110 when I first seen it in full stride. I tell ya what, the ASC and braking on the new Triton's is amazing. In a flash I had hit the anchors and just managed to hit him in the air on his way down from a big jump so he was propelled forward about 10 metres away from where I came to a stop. Didn't even kill the prick, stunned him for about a minute and then he got up and jumped away :twisted:
After that the mongrels were coming at me from all angles, must have counted about 50 between there and the 2 hour drive to Glen Innes. Was lucky also that the car was still drivable as we were about 1.5 hr's from mobile reception and there was no-one on the road at that time of day in the middle of nowhere :shock:
Let's just say I needed a few stiff bourbons by the time I got back to the motel :P Driving in the dark with Kamakazi Roo's coming at ya with one head light smashed is not a fun experience :evil:

i hit a red in my old KB laser.. luckily i was only doing about 20kph when i hit him lol, knocked him to the ground.. the misses at the time took her seat belt off and went to get out of the car!!!! so i yelled at her and took off, the roo was twice the height of the little laser and just jumped off.. those roo's are s**t scary at the best of times, i wouldnt wanna go head to head in a fight but apparently the misses did lol

I wasnt going too, but I got home early, checked to see if it had been sold and it still had 15 minutes left and 0 bids :shock: Couldn't help myself :lol:
I had been in contact with the seller over the weekend asking numerous questions, so it wasn't just a spur of the moment decision :wink: One of the questions was K's, it has 255k, so not bad.
Pick it up Saturday from Sydney, and driving it back to Newie so I will have plenty of time to get to know the old girl.

Haha yeah, I guess you wouldn't be able to resist posting some anyways. One can't buy a nice Ford and not post photos of it 8-)

I am a born Hoon Huggie :lol: but skids are illegal m'kay! Putting pic's up would just be incriminating myself, and one benefit of getting old is the getting wiser bit :D
Besides, if I did it on my property, I would have every neighbour within a 1 mile radius after me for breaking their windows and throwing dog s**t at their homes :lol: :lol: :mrgreen:

Looks like the wagon will be gone this arvo :) Off to Sydney tommorow to pick up the LTD :D
and I have convinced the missus to broaden her desire for an XR8 to include EL's. So her wish list goes something like this: -
* EL - AUIII XR8
* Preferably Black
* Manual
Something like this :mrgreen:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT
Little outside our budget, but what a sweet car :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
Would definately be worth an airfare down south.
:wink:
