fair enough...... just that he mentioned it would be a daily for his missus, so i assumed auto would be the preffered gearbox

unless mick doesnt have a phobia of AU's like he makes out, and wants the car for himself :)

The manual is the missus' idea, she is a bit of a petrol head
They are both fine examples and definately worth consideration. She likes the red one.
Not a phobia of AU's mate, just never liked the shape. I think the biggest turn off for me personally are the headlights, probably why I don't mind the XR AU's :?

Wonder how hard it would be to put a manual in a nice AU Fairlane   - save having the fugly front those XR's slapped on - hard to believe they looked good when they came out!

I mean the XR's, I remember everyone thinking how much better they looked than the toast rack grilled AU's when they dropped on us, but when the BA came out, I thought what the..... now that looks good!

Well then, stage one of the plan done. The wagon has gone to it's new home  Buyer paid asking price, no haggling. 8-)

Tommorow morning stage two will be done. The Triton is packed with the usual tools, trolley jack, some spares, water, trans fluid etc etc ready to pick up the LTD from Sydney and drive it home. Hopefully I won't get any drama's, but better to be prepared

As for the wife's daily, we keep on changing, so I think more time is needed to really make sure she is going to be happy this time. I really can't get past my dislike of some of the AU features, so as nice as the appointments are of a nice V8 Fairmont Ghia with black leather, those big a** front and rear lights ruin it for us.

I really am pushing for an EL XR8 or XR6 (if it's the right one), but there are bugger all around at the moment. Anyhow, no rush......will just have to keep our eye's and ears open and wait for the right one to come along.

there is a green XR6 EF up here for 2500, MINT!!! drive train.. extractors exhaust, lots of $ spend on suspension...

perfect on the inside.. until you see the paint job they gave it... sanding whats sanding we will just go over the top of the clear coat and dirt... crows feet, bublles cracked bubbles and a large section which looks like a piece of solid paint that has cracked just past the rear door with rust stains coming out....

if i had seen it before i started the EF-> NC conversion i would have bought it and dropped all the XR stuff into it

Pity the BA's are lemons, which is reflected in their pricing. My sister has a BA XR6 and they have poured thousands into repairs on driveline, suspension and other mechanical issues. And other stories I have heard about them has told me to stay clear :)
Wife was asking why I keep skipping over BA's in our search
