I paid a similar amount for my Fairlane as you ($4.5k), but it was perfect. Not a single thing was wrong with it and it has been the perfect car and is still as good as the day I picked her up (just a little lower, faster and meaner looking  ) Even Shannon's agree, and I was gobb smacked when they offered to insure it for 10k

Geez, that is nice and high probably as it is a Fairy so what would you expect? lol

Photo's may come on the weekend when I cheer up a bit and take a closer look at what I have to deal with, but I'm not expecting to find much to cheer me up. The only good part is the original woodgrain as I seen a full set sell on the weekend for over $500, so I don't think it will take much to get my $1k back.

$500 Just for woodgrain  And then as its an LTD the grille/rear garnish will go for a fair bit too as well as the power windows and door looms as they are worth a fair bit in themselves

Shouldnt be too hard for you to make it all back and a little more

Finally think we have decided on the new family daily, almost
Have a choice between 2 x BA MarkII XR8's. One is an 04 with 121k's the other is an 05 with 128k's.
Had to be an 8 didn't it

in all seriousness, so the 05 model. the newer the model the better the resale and less bugs.. think 88 EA to 90 model EA, i know its more years apart but a 90 EA you can drive without issues, where as an 88 model most likely wont even start lol.

early BA's had diff issues so i heard, so surely the newer would have the better diff etc?

thats my 2c worth..

tho for me it would come down to colour

Yeah. the newer model is a much nicer colour, it's a pearl blue......very nice. The 04 is just a plain Jane white, stock as a rock XR. Both are series 2 so hopefully the bugs of the series 1's were ironed out on both cars. about $4k price difference between the 2 though, so that needs to be considered as well.
And I once swore I would never own a modern Ford.......how times have changed

Just check on the timing chain and gear issues and oil consumption on the early Boss motors.

If I had my way, there is a nice V8 ED wagon going on here that I would gladly make way for in the carport, but I am showing that I can let the wife make a decision, well, maybe just this once :P
Here's a sneek peek of the blue one

You're on to me Ash  The white one is me trying to be a cheapskate :P My mate actually tried to talk me out of even looking at the white one, and probably for good reason. The bluey on the other hand he couldn't talk highly enough about, came with his personal recommendation.
I know you're not a fan Ash, but he is a long time friend and hopefully he is pointing me in the right direction.
His pick for me though was a little out of our price range :( It's an 06 BF XR8 with 48k, debadged, lowered with 20's and a wicked sounding twin exhaust with stainless quad tailpipes and probably a few gogo goodies I couldn't see. If I could justify paying 20k for a car, this would be the one :D

 hmmm! Not selling the NC, just looking for a decent ride for the wife's daily to get her out of the NC. (Been a constant battle which has come up a few times in the build threads history  )
I just spent $300 having the front brakes done yesterday which included rebuilding the front calipers and a set of performance pads for the slotted rotors. Tommorow it's off to get some new tyres and a pink slip.
By the time it's registered again for another 12 months, it will have set me back about $2k, so no way am I selling it now, or trading it in for that matter :P
One good thing that came out of the LTD purchase is some bits I need to take the Lane's appearance to the next level, in the form of 4 clean doors I can shave and have resprayed. I then keep with the build history by keeping everything originally from the Lane in case I change my mind and need to reverse the whole thing :D
As for that trophy, you must have been one of the only one's from then that chooses to remember. Most from the FM crew didn't think I should have won, and a couple of the honest one's at least said so to my face on the day, as for the others  I won't get into it
