It is the intake air temp sensor.
It is in the manifold behind number 5 cylinder on the HO manifold but on th eAU it was in the inlet pipe.
As the air is colder in the inlet it will run a bit richer.
I had mine in the inlet pipe and refitted it into numbe r5 on the RPM II and it doesnt run as rich.

I recon that sensor you pointing at is ECT –coolant temperature sensor.

I will have a closer look at the wiring harness using that diagram, Thanks for that.
Don't think it is a coolant sensor though, wouldn't be very effective in the air intake pipe :P
Appreciate the help though guys, keep em coming.

Looks like ECT is on the first pictures on lower manifold.
Sensor in air intake is from AU setup and should not be a coolant sensor.

1 - Mick that is the sensor you hook up the eBay 15+Hp mod up to!

2 - You guys are saying that the line that you replaced shouldn't run to the same spot on a LPG set-up but should run to the other side of the gas ring? cause mine does run to factory spot like yours but I do have a strange idle problem periodically!

Did the explorer start with the EL2 XR's? Anyway, looks like I will probably remove the manifold at some stage and fit it to No.5 as Matt has done, or find one that already has the hole  Like that's gunna happen  I assume the lowers are different between HO and Explorer? if not, I know where I can get one

I removed the gas ring today and found that the air tube had been filled with silicone and then capped with a rubber boot. The air tube on the TB was also capped. So I just removed the ring altogether and fitted it back to the TB pipe.
But from what I have learnt today, and what Evil said earlier, you will be drawing LPG into the engine via the oil filler breather  I assume your mixer ring has an air intake pipe that's capped?
Here's a pic of the one I removed today, it's from a sprintgas system.

The fitting on the left is the air line and the one on the right is the gas line from the converter. In my case today, I turned the gas valve off at the bottle and capped the gas line with a stainless bolt.

Yep the lowers are different between the explorer and the HO.
It will need to be drilled and tapped if you go that route to move it.

nice score on getting the barnacus bus there, im envious of that wagon 8-)

you know, if you decide to remove the exhaust from the wagon, theres another fellow V8 wagon owner here that will gladly take it off your hands  :P

Thanks Alfy, she is a nice wagon indeed, a deffinate credit to the previous owner.
The exhaust has changed a couple of times, it currently has a twin 2.5 going into a single 3 with new high flow cats. Won't be getting removed, just modified to reduce the drone between 1.5 and 2k revs. Just wouldn't be my car without at least a couple of hotdog's fitted :P

These old boxcars definately keep you on your toes eh. The Lane had been loosing coolant recently and I couldn't find where. The last place I checked today was the heater tap. I had already replaced this once before a couple of years ago with a brand new one....the reason I hadn't checked it sooner obviously
So the bonnets all up at the same time wasn't just for show, I managed to sort out a few problems today and am loving having the LTD there I can rape and pillage as required

That they do dude. I was loosing coolant recently, and traced it back to the radiator to header tank pipe. I thought it couldn't be the hose, but changed the clamp anyway, done it up as tight as i could without cracking the plastic tank, still managed to leak. Swapped the tank for another i have, no more leak, with the stock clamp back on for good measure.....

I thought i solved my leaks when i did all the welsh plugs recently. Now they are solved, and i can almost use the heater properly, just need to put in a new thermostat. On the Ghia. Plenty of jobs to do on the Xr8s still.

I might be acquiring more parts to do some of those jobs soon...

Cheers

ToranaGuy
