Geez times change.
I remember when a GTi was a fast little rocket ship. I was actually thinking of buying one brand new , but then the XY 351 ute come along...........
Now you are talking of one as a learners car! Things always change thats for sure!

Yeah! They are a quick little car and the missus and daughter will be sharing driving for the next 12 months till the dreaded P plates come along and she hits the road by herself. Better to learn to drive a quick car under our supervision for a year.........hell, I learnt to drive in a 351 ZF Fairlane

Having fun you 2

Like I said, my old man has always had V8's, I learnt to drive in a 351 and as soon as I was able, I had one of my own. I remember the excitement the first time I was handed the keys to the Fairlane, and plan to share the same experience with my kids. Daughters first time behind the wheel will be in the Lane, probably this weekend......even if it is only at Rathmines old air base :P = plenty of open area to practice the basics without other vehicles/pedestrians and the like to worry about.

Better they learn to respect the road and potential power a car holds from us, than to pick up bad habits from friends/other young hoons. Even a 3cyl daewoo can reach high speeds........which is the real killer!

Like they say Ash....you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink.

They have ridden motor bikes on the wife's uncles property when we go camping each year, and the last 2 years, she has driven around the property and the camp site, but never on the open road.

We do the best we can and then hope they take at least something on board and learn a little respect for the dangers of the road. Sometimes you have to learn from your mistakes......we just hope they're not big ones :|

Well, daughter has her first car! Picked this little beauty up this arvo
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... AQ:AU:1123
Needs a few minor repairs for rego, but nothing major........good price too!

Now I just need to finally get rid of the DC....full on attack planned for this weekend

and then tidy up the Wagon, put 12 months rego on and throw it out to market to see what I can get.......all funds raised will be going into the next phase of the Lanes evolution

How much do you want for the left-hand side mirror?

That looks like a fairly nice DC, why are you wrecking it?

How does $25+ postage sound?

DC looked good to me also when I bought it from Ebay without first inspecting, but mechanically, it's a piece of s**t! Trans is screwed, engine blew up on the F3 on the trip home, but other than that it's OK I suppose. Bought it with the intention of doing it up, but now I just want it gone......piece by piece if that's how it has to happen!
