Update!!!
Well, after a few minor hiccups with fitting the new head and getting everything back together again, viewtopic.php?f=1&t=76086&start=40 (still have to fit new timing chain tenioner this arvo), the NA Lane is almost ready to hit the open roads again Green Slip done and car booked in for Pink Slip tomorrow, now all I have to do is finish putting it back together (Tensioner and PS Pump) and fingers crossed, all will be good. This has been a good learning experience for me as I have never played with the ford 6 before, being a long time V8 man, so I'm hoping all goes well this arvo and there will be more opportunities to learn even more as I start the process of building this car up to my high standards (which of course will keep the wife happy and out of the NC ). Special Thanks go to Troyman for providing the new head and giving this newby guidance along the way . Thanks also to everybody else who also contributed through the head drama's, I would have been lost without the expert guidance of the FM community. Wish me luck! Cheers, Mick

I just had another question that I forgot to ask when putting the injector rail back on.
Can anyone tell me what sequence the injector bits go in? I think I put them back together right, but better to be safe than sorry eh There is the blue injector hat, a rubber O-ring and a yellow plastic ring. I'm pretty sure I installed them in that order from the tip of the injector back, can anyone confirm. Cheers, Mick

It lives!!! Well, almost
Started first turn of the key....nobody was more surprised than me But it's running like a pig. All the usual tappet noises and other "lack of oil" noises dissapeared after about 10 minutes of running. But there are issues that will probably be sorted with a good service and replacement of leads, plugs, air filter etc, etc. But it's a start For example, the plugs that were in the head when I bought it off Troyman are still in it.....how old are they Troy??? The leads look like there the factory originals, there that crappy, but the previous owner did warn me that he never looked after it since it was left to him when his father died a couple of years ago, just drove it till it died.....literally So a bit of TLC and she'll be fine. Hopefully my mate will still do the pink slip tomorrow so I can at least register it, and then a little more surgery will be required. Cheers, Mick

Oh, and another little trick I learnt today, before you can insert a 10-12mm tube into the outer bolt of the timing chain tensioner, you need to remove the little oil filter that sits inside Nothing a phone call to my new hero Troyman couldn't fix I can't thank you enough Troy, I just wouldn't have got there without your guidance
Seriously though, a tech doco needs to be made up on the whole timing chain tensioner. I would do it, but I don't deserve the credit for it. I know I was not the first person to be caught out by this poorly designed piece of crap, and I definately won't be the last.....but I can consider myself an expert on the thing now

He's pretty good, but also a good mate, so I won't put pressure on him to pass it if it's not right....on the other hand, he knows how well I look after my cars, so it should all be good. It's just that I have left it all to the last minute to get it passed, there is so much more to do to bring this car back to life...unfortunatley it has been driven into the ground. But it's safe now, I'll look after her

It passed rego!!!
Did have a few issues to sort out since getting it running again and still have a couple more yet to figure out, but it's now wearing a new sticker which was the current objective It had been running on 4 cylinders when I first got it going, but one was due to a failed injector, which I pinched from the white montyand the other was no.6 injector wasn't connected properly. But now it's running sweet....very smooth to drive and plenty of stick. The issue with the trans is actually third gear band. So that is next to sort, but more pressing is an issue I'm having with power steering. If I turn the wheel while stationery, it squeels it's tits off, but when the revs are up pretty high or your travelling at speed, the PS belt get's thrown off Gunna post up something soon for advice as this is really starting to s**t me....not a fun car to drive when PS not working To celebrate rego, I gave her a bath this arvo.....will give it a good polish on the weekend Attachment: IMG_1737.jpg Attachment: IMG_1744.jpg Attachment: IMG_1745.jpg

looking good that issue with your powersteering is possible the pump is s**t or the pulley is not aligned properly or not tenstioned properly... with the gearbox maybe needs a service? is it a 3 speed or 4 speed? if 3 speed can't they tighten the bands?
what is the gearbox doing? just staying in third longer or not at all?
