Im new to the forum. I bought my BA XT 4.0 falcon off my parents (who bought it brand new) about a year and a half ago. Its been a great car. At first I was happy with it stock, as it had tons more power than my old camry lol and handled great. Heres a few pics:

Now i want to do a few mods to imporve the peformance and fuel economy. After reading and reading I think I know what I want to do. If anyone wants to give me their 2 cents.

* Typhoon air box with 6rx snorkel
* KN air filter
* Headers and 2.5 inch catback
* Then maybe capa flash box

Just wondering if any knows where I can get the typhoon air box and snorkel? tried a few wreckers today, they looked at me like i was talking chinese.

Looking for exhaust and headers. Its so hard to decide on what to get. Has anyone used HM headers? and exhaust on a BA? only reason I ask is becuase my mate can get really good discounts at repco. I went into my local repco today and they said they only carry HM headers and stock exhaust systems. I found the HM website:

http://www.hmheaders.com.au/index.php?q ... Range.html

It has a few exhausts but no BA headers? does anyone know if there products are any good, or if they make headers/extractors for BA falcons?

A1 exhausts guy said around 1 grand for pacies or genies and redback cat back

quote from another place:
Prices as requested

Redback STR245 $165 supply only

Redback STR246 $195 supply only

To Supply & Fit Redback Sports system Only $445 includes cutting out rear bar for dual tailpipes (Str246) If your vehicle is a XR6 we would not have to modify rear bar. Chome or Stainless Steel Exhaust tips not included , Start from $20 Each

We have other branded 2 1/2 Mandrel Bent Sports Systems available from $360 Supplied & Fitted

Genie Headers Gen006HP $500 supply only $700 supplied & fitted

Pacemaker PH4490 $595 supply only $795 supplied & fitted

Pacemaker PH4495 $695 supply only $895 supplied & fitted

Fitted Price of extractors includes extra pipework required to re use standard cat convertor.

Another Option we can offer is Hurricane Headers , XForce Or Rage 2 1/2 Sports Exhaust & Hi Flo Cat $1195 Complete

including Fitting, This is a very popular package and performance equal to Other Brands.

Well I decided on just getting a redback cat back for the first mod. Anyone living on the Sunshine coast may find this info usefull. I got quite a few quotes and it was worth it, about $100 difference. Also found out some useful info on reback, genie, wild cat. They are all made in the same factory in Brisbane. And sometimes the extractors are genie with wildcat tags/stickers and vise versa.

The cheapest way I was told by kuluin Mufflers was to buy one off ebay and get someone to fit it. This is the cheapest one I found:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/REDBACK-SINGLE-2 ... 53e3827bac

A1 Exhausts (Kawana) quoted $150 for fittment and no warranty
Kuluin mufflers quoted $55 for fitment and no warranty

These are the prices from a few other places for the cat back and fittment.

Maroochy Exhaust Centre - $300 - $380 depending on brand of muffler.
The muffler men and A1 exhausts (Warana) - $500
Caloundra Exhaust Centre - $400
Kuluin Mufflers - approx $500.

As the redback from ebay is $340 delivered and fittment would be $55. I ended up going with Caloundra Exhaust Centre as it is $5 dearer and comes with a warranty. I got it booked in for next monday. Cant Wait.....

I also bought a upgraded CAI today. I decided to get the BF XR8/Typhoon lower Airbox, Typhoon lower snorkel and the XR6 turbo upper intake snorkel. From what I read, ordering the parts through Ford is the cheapest option and they are all new and genuine.

Well I found out that in 2011 that is not so true. My ford dealer (Kawana) was quite good and helpful. I have heard they will not sell you parts at some ford places if you dont own that particular model (ie Typhoon airbox). But peter was quite good he just let me on the computer with him and look up the parts. only thing was that the parts came to a total of $380. He said he would do trade prices for me (dont know why) but that was still $316. Too much IMO

I ended up buying the parts from FGA

http://www.ftgautosalvage.com.au/Default.asp.

In the end it cost $230 for the parts brand new and $25 shipping. So it ened up being $125 cheaper than ford, unless you get the trade price but still $61 cheaper.

Now I just need a K & N airfliter, which I will get with my mates repco dicount card.

Well Its been a while since my last post. Ive been a bit slack and short on funds and doing other projects. I put the typhoon box and snorkels in. I had the redback exhaust fitted. I'm quite happy with the redbcak cat back and the cai. I have noticed a bit of increased power in the high revs range. The sound is quite nice, not too loud or droney. The car spins the wheels pretty easy now when I plant it from a standing start, which I diddn't expect lol.

I did pick up a set of new pacies off ebay for $346. I was pretty happy.

Now I'm just waitng for my tax return and I can finish the exhaust with the extractors and High flow cat.

I also bought some new seats off ebay for $233. The drivers seat in my car was pissing me off. The foam had all sunk in the hip, and my back would hurt on long drives. So I decided to get some XR seats. Hopefully I can bolt these in this weekend.

Same coloured car. I've been looking for a spoiler for ages. I'm guessing by the bumper and wheels, this is an SR?

With the extractor, you need a 2.5 exhaust? or something to go with it?

Nice mate, I was thinking it was an SR as well. Any plans for a bodykit?

Cheers
Phil

Not entirely true. Any Flash boxes that are not XCAL 3 are now unable to be tuned. Herrod Motorsport have taken over as the Australian distributor for SCT products.

I love it as well, unfortunately it's becoming really primary in choice... Many more people drive the colour now... HAHAHAHA which is strange

Mine was amazing, still someone hit the side of me, now it's damaged...

Hey guys thanks for the comments. I thought no one could post on my page or something lol.

I got a peformance catalogue from repco and cappa do have the new x3 boxes like the SCT ones. I'm just waiting for them to order it in a get a price for me.

I had a 2.5 inch redback cat back put on it so the pacies should go on ok. I'm just waiting for repco to get me a metal matrix high flow cat, so I can finish it off.

Yeah I think its a wierd SR. It has no SR badge or rear power windows. Apparently it was destined to be a QLD police unmarked car. They ordered it with all the extras but when they seen the colour in real life they said they diddnt want it anymore.

Na I havnt really thought about bodykits. I quite like the side skirts compared to the xr ones. I was thinking about doing a xr front bumper, but with paint and xr headlights it would be expensive I think.

The rear bumper is stock, with the exhaust hidden, dumps towards the ground.

Yeah I'm really thinking about lowering it. But I already scrape it on driveways etc. So I'm not sure, but they do look sexy when dumped.

The colour has grown on me. I wasnt so keen on it when I bought it, but now I like it. Goes nice with chrome.
