Troyman wrote: just a thought, your rocker covers have no breathing ? (no breather on fill neck, actually no neck lol) so your pcv is trying to suck oil vapour, but if the rocker covers have no breather your pcv is like its sucking a almost closed bottle.. you may be hearing manifold vacuum building up in the crank case??? Now this could be getting somewhere. Its a long shot but if there is no air supply to the motor for the PCV , it would be possible in times of heavy vacuum (idling) for the sump to pull in under vacuum and block the oil pickup. As Troy pointed out it will be exactly the same as sucking on an empty coke bottle with no air supply. It will suck in under vacuum.

Just drill and tap a fitting into the rocker cover to run to the air inlet the same as is done with my Mav.

are the trickflows alloy or steel???
also just as a test disconnect the pcv hose at the manifold and block it off, see it it helps... if you look at it, at idle you would have aprox 20" hg of vacuum which is 9.8psi of vacuum, that's a fair amount of vacuum to build up... |

Alloys mate. ok, factory ones are steel so cant weld the factory filler onto the alloy.. but what matt just said is perfect... |

Its a s**t picture mate but I just popped out and took it in the dark.
The hose just goes from that fitting to the air inlet after the MAF. As far as size goes I have no idea. The fitting was put in by Daz when he did some work to the rocker covers before I bought them off him.

you could even drill a hole and fit a rubber grommet with a push in breather..

Also the cam sync sensor is only splash fed oil wise.
Clutching at straws but a big vacuum in the crankcase could possibly cause the oil to pull away from it....................

Well its been a few days since i drilled the valve cover and put a brass fitting in it, and i think my problem is solved.
I took it out to fordmods meet and had no issues whatsoever. Ended up giving the rims a quick clean yesterday with the meguiars hotrims wheel cleaner http://www.meguiars.com.au/products/car ... l-cleaner/. I just cant thank the brains trust here at fordmods.com enough, they have yet again saved me from myself. Now that ive put a few km's on these heads its begging to be tuned, down low feels like a marked improvement but when you nail it boy oh boy that sound is just sex. It feels like its making power now and like its building up kind of feeling which it didnt feel like before,yh it had lots of low down torque but now it actualy goes harder. Need to open up my plug gaps from .9 up to factory spec Knowing the difference that the tune makes to just the stock engine performance im feeling very excited to get it back to wsid, the factory shifts and part throttle feel doughy but than it always had. My sheet that came with the tfs heads recommened running 36*, i was at 33* with the gt40p's(factory is 28*) so theres plenty of power timing wise left on the table here. Will need to get it onto a dyno soon as i dont have my wideband setup yet so afr's could be anyones guess really, then its wsid time(ill try to get it down there with no QH installed to give a 100% reading from bone stock to tfs heads swap data). |

glad all the issues were sorted..
now I got to get onto this quarter horse stuff and look at tunning for mine, no flash tuner this time, at least there is plenty of tuning stuff for the 5.0l.. |

Good to hear your having some wins.
Heads alone made that much difference hey?
