Yh no problems with helping mates when i can.

No it wasnt after i left subway (i should have clarified) i was coming home from mum and dad's at around 6:30pm, i was driving along and then it sounded like the car took a big s**t and started making this noise.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WS37L1G8lnA

Ive got the car half pulled apart, but i cbf with it right now im so goddamn upset with it.

Like i said before it was an ex cop car so its probably had the living s**t kicked out of it before it eventually made its way into my hands, still 260 tho kms is nothing for these motors.

Yeah it sux when stuff like that happens. I suppose better it went now and not after you put your turbo on it. Now you can fix it future proof. That vid sounds terrible

It sounds exactly the same and when you rev it its worse, im not going to try to get this motor running again.

Easiest solution is pick up another explorer motor but it would still have valve spring issues and after doing the heads it really shows up the gt40p's for how s**t they are.

Linda suggested moving forward the possible plan of a 347 stroker.... but financialy its just not possible right now.

Yh i know we talked about how i miss the turbo heaps but again its $ that ultimatly is stopping me, and trying to justify it to linda and owning another defectable car just isnt worth it tbh.

That vid i posted above, thats the same exact sound/pitch/tone etc.

Only thing with the eb motor is it has double the km/s and all the seals leak, if worst comes to worst that maybe my only option.

Just dont want to have to keep changing motors over and s**t.

Im pretty sure if i was to do it id need the timing cover off the explorer as it has the provision for the crank sensor on it...

I will be going out tomorrow to look at a few 5.0ltrs at the wreckers and hopefully i bring one home with me.

Ill be pulling the tfs heads off ready for further slumber as paper weights as i cbf doing a head swap again so soon.

So another 5.hoe, tune, nt05's = hopefully 14's, its just going to piss me off because the car started to make some good power AND sound awesome.

Why don't you pull the old motor down and see what's wrong with it before flying off and buying another.
Rings and bearings are cheap. If its spun a bearing it could be just a case of machine the crank , do a hone and slap rings and bearings in.
Better to spend $1100 and end up with something fresh then spend $900 and have another unknown quantity.

Yh matt i know what your saying, ill be pulling this motor out and pulling it down as i want a 100% fresh motor and im seriously looking at slowly building a 347... wont be a massive hp, brute engine just a nice increase in torque with a few more herbs.

Went out an bought the motor today for a very very good price with 170,000km's.

Big shout out to capare for helping not only get the motor but for helping get it off the ute and moving the xr8 with his little laser.

So ill be spending the week removing heads, manifolds, injectors etc.

Should be up and running in two weeks time.

New motor is cleaned up alittle with brackets and exhaust removed pretty much ready to go into the au, the motor thats in the car is nearly ready.

Unbolted headers, all rocker gear and front dress, just need to do wiring loom and starter then its the auto... shouldnt be to long now.

I have a pair of head gaskets here you can grab and get me some new ones before I fit the heads to mine if you want.
The way I see it you need coolant and oil anyway to fit the new motor and fitting heads with the motor out of the car is much much easier.
Then you can sell on the low km GT40Ps to get some coin back.

Thanks for the offer matt but this engine gets no love, no trickflows, no roller rockers its staying the way it is (comes with three months warranty).

I really want to bolt the trickflows onto it but Linda is very insistent that i will get no sex if i put them on :( .

EDIT
With such low km gt40p heads how much realisticly could i sell them for(might be able to sway her)

Ill be putting up a few forsale threads later tonight maybe tomorrow.
