Does that crossover pipe and the calling of it MKIII tell a story?

I just feel that a head upgrade is a major modification, its nolonger a tune and exhaust only xr8.
Still putting 3.9's and the exhaust will get an upgrade from the genie straws to pacey comp 4 into 1's with a dual 2.5'' exhaust (wouldnt have bothered if i had stayed with the gt40p's). Still yet to have my wideband hooked up so havnt touched fuel in the tune yet. So in order its looking like fit tfs 170cc FAC heads 4-1's with dual 2.5'' exhaust (need done asap as rego is in 6 weeks) 3.9 gears with rebuilt lsd And exterior modifications that im keeping tight lipped about. |

Early bird catches the worm, or in this case a twisted wedge 170cc FAC head ....
I did start removing things a week or so ago, but yesterday linda removed the whole turbo exhaust system while i removed the heads she is a goddamn champ i swear. So today ill be seen down at pep's picking up new gaskets = emptying the weavles out of my wallet |

A bit of lift in the front, with some wheelspin in the rear.
Attachment: sdstreetmeet240413_189.jpg That was 1000rpm launch with tyres at 25psi = still no traction (chity tyres). Got nt05's now so that shouldnt be a problem anymore. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Good read. nice car too. having had similar dramas when I went to an explorer an 75 tb an maf, calibrated for 23lb in , I had similar problems to yours, mine worked out to be the maf not being worked properly by ecu. I put a shaker on as well but ended up not running it through the airbox, just straight into the tb from the maf. ironed out a heap of vaccum behind the filter and no gulp when tramping it. different car now altogether . cant wait to see the heads your doin on and the gains from it

So i started the process on thrusday @11pm and ended up calling it @8pm i had about 100 breaks in between but it helped doing it in little bits and the fact that the au front dress is a f**k cinch to work with.
Friday i ended up removing the heads as that was what was left and i need to stop the night before as i was wrecked. Only job really that i did on friday... Took Saturday off and spent some time with the family and not the car. Cleaned the heads up today ready to go on and then started on the block, now let me just say if you attempt to remove the old gasket with just a blade alone you deserve the pain that comes with it. So scRAPED the mating surface all clean and than i chased the threads as on the eb it was rusted and terrible... luckly for me and this very young specimen of virgin block it was clean as a whistle. Attachment: cleannreadtogo.JPG Attachment: startof.JPG Attachment: passangersreadtostart.JPG Attachment: passangers finished.JPG Attachment: chased threads.JPG Now got a lttle itemised list from pep's. *permaseal s2003kc head gaskets are $40 each so thats $80 *Metal exhaust gaskets $35 *Complete manifold gasket set $12 (explorer+h.o+holley/edlebrock upper gasket) (egr+throttle body gaskets) (Valley gasket) (thermostat gasket) (cork gaskets for front and rear of lower manifold) *Ultra blue gasket goo $14 Scraper and extra blades $3 *Head stud thread sealer $70 Total = $214 Not cheap but not as bad as i thought id get stung. Start of the heads going on tomorrow, i will take my time as i wont actually be able to drive it till engine oil and coolant flush on Wednesday BUT there is another little problem that has reared its ugly head. Keeping tight lipped about what im actually going to do with it until maybe friday... stay tuned You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post. |

Just spent the last hour installing drivers side head, making progress ftw.
I have conflicting torque spec's here with trickflow say 35,75 and then a further 10 on the top studs only, where as the head gasket sheet say's 48,70 and then 90* extra????... I did it to turbo spec's that i found on corral anyway just incase so its future proofed for any possible power adder weather it be chemicle induction or forced induction (however unlikely). |

Attachment: far.JPG Attachment: gaskes.JPG Attachment: readyformanifold.JPG Attachment: goodjob.JPG Didnt take any pics of the lower back on with injectors and fuel rail, just needs oil and coolant so i can change them over and refit all the hoses. Problem tho, because i used studs theres not enough room to put the ground cable and dipstick back were it should be... Now last time on the eb i used a bolt that had extra thread for the headers, but i wasnt very happy with that setup.. so ive removed a bolt from the gt40p head that holds the anchor on. Im going to extend the ground cable from battery to attach to the back of the tfs head and use that bolt, so should be sweet.
