ilovemel... All up it would have cost me just over $2000 I reckon. That's a very rough guestimate as I need to figure out what I want painted on my car at the same time as my painter sprays the kit. However, I have done all the fitting and preparing work myself and would definately not recommend taking on a task like this unless you have a fair bit of experience with body work.
freak6... thanks man, what kit u looking at?

Yeh, getting the kit on and secured is hard as this particular kit comes with no fitments whatsoever... but getting a nice finish on the fibreglass and removing all the imperfections is harder. There are 10 stages in the body kit creation process... I was taught these when I used to work at Adelaide Special Vehicles...
Stage 1 - Use mould to make basic fibreglass shell. Stage 2 - Use angle grinder and orbital sander to remove rough edges. Stage 3 - Go over shell with a razor and remove any air bubbles. Stage 4 - Use body filler to fill up air bubble holes and build out and incomplete areas. Stage 5 - Sand bogged and rough parts of kit with medium grit paper to remove major defects and imperfections. Stage 6 - Sand entire kit with fine grit paper to remove rough sanding marks and to smooth the surface. Stage 7 - Spray kit with a high build putty coat. Stage 8 - Sand with fine grit paper to remove any further sanding marks. Stage 9 - Undercoat with primer Stage 10 - Fit then paint!!! (this is assuming the kit actually fits, which 9 outa' 10 times it doesnt...) My kit was so cheap because it arrived at my door at stage 6 So I've still got a lot of work to do...

have you thought about trying to chase down some fog lights for that bar as allways thought the aftermarket bars look plain without them, surely hella or narva would do them.
Good job on it mate you've done well.

Well... All done! Well the basic fitting anyway... Now I can at least drive it with the kit on.
The rear bar still isn't sitting quite right but I'll fix that when I remove it to prepare and paint it... Here's pics... And now that my rear bar is sitting out a lot more I can actually fit my twin tip which has been sitting in the shed for months

Good job on it mate you've done well. I been thinking that for ages... I just dunno how they'd go in there though because the hole isn't quite an oval, recatngle or circle... And I reckon fog lights look out of place if they don't fit perfectly. I'll have a look around and see if I can chase some down...

That'd be an interesting combo... Check out the Millenium kit that ASV does. You may like their rear bar and or sideskirts to go with the venom bar. They suit well.

i was just looking at the pics you just posted on your msn pics thing... i love those tips. also it looks like you have a lil gutter rash on the rear rim.
how do you attach the reo to the actual skin if its just smooth on the inside |

Yep gutter rash indeed, it's not as bad as it looks but it is there... New rims within a month will fix that
And how do I go about fixing it? With a lof of pain and effort. I cut out the part on my original bar which bolted to the reo bar and just tek screwed it onto the inside of the shell... The two tek screws are hiding behind the number plate It's a temporary fix until I grab some fibreglass to attach it properly.

when is it being painted?
are you painting the whole car or just the kit? |

Still trying to decide what I'm gonna get painted. I got holes in my bootlid so that probably all needs to be resprayed once I fix up the holes... My bonnet is fading so that needs to be resprayed... Plus a bird crapped on my newly sprayed roof which peeled a spot of paint away the size of a 50c coin so I dunno whether I can live with that yet...
It'd be better for me to get it all out of the way all at the same time. Hopefully start spraying in a little over two weeks... Once exams and everything are done.

mmm... steer clear of the SVO IMO... I dunno, they never seem to fit nicely. Always seem slightly warped. Venom would be your best bet I reckon.
IMO the only two aftermarket fronts that look good on an EF are the Venom and mine.
