your exactly right.. sealed box vented to the outside of the car... LEGALLY thats how its supposed to be ha ha

Thanks guys... I'll keep that in mind :) Its in there nice and firm any how and I suppose it's more or less vented to the outside in some way or another... I mean... I didn't silicone every little air hole into the battery part

Batteries under charge produce hydrogen gas. You really don't want the boot to be filling up with this highly flammable gas. Buy a sealed battery box, they're cheap. Then run some sort of flexible tube down to a hole cut in the boot floor to vent the gas to the outside. LPG systems are vented in the same way.

As a fatter of fact I did know that they produced Hydrogen gas... all be it a small amount. Studying Yr 12 Chem does it... Don't worry guys, I will get around to doing it soon but this was a quick job at the time. I need to find/build a nice little sealed battery box... They don't make small ones where I went and all the big ones are too big too fit in there. That's why I didn't do it the first time round.
But will get round to it.

I've only got the one battery in my boot. Its only a small 40AH and it's directly bridged to my main battery so it will be charged by the alternator just like my main one. I know this means less charge for each battery but the two batteries act like one anyway so my stereo can draw off both batteries at the same time without putting great amounts of draw on any particular one. I checked the current and voltage with engine running and without it running and it's a hell of a lot smoother than it was before with only one battery.
Works much better :D

I have the same wheel as you, where did you get the gear handle? Is it an AU one?

Hey Nicco... I only just realised you asked that...

I got the shifter new off of eBay for $90 along with a standard EF Falcon centre surround. The seller sweetened the deal with it. He needed it gone and I wanted to hack it up to put a screen in :D
Anyway... Yeh, it's an AU one but I couldn't resist it especially seemings it matched my steering wheel so nicely :)
Took me around 3 days to modify it to fit on my shaft and make the button work. The button was the hardest thing... It works now but is sticks while in gear sometimes... I made sure it won't stick while out of gear as that could be bad. :? Not being able to get out of Reverse or Drive... not fun
It was worth it though :D

How did you paint your interior?

My mates doing his at the moment, and I'd be interested to know how you did yours as it came up really nice.

SEPTONE VINYL & PLASTIC PAINT... Magic stuff :D readily available at Supercheap Auto for about $15 a can. And yes... they sold it to me... a 17 year old

<img border="0" src="http://tkfiles.storage.msn.com/x1pjzF2-RYhxRXjfcbVFV7aG0gH7hnMlH7nj-ry8tvVZmWdSCSDR02eDnP0y0wZKZZuEarMGVUai_DscS91vTRkwlHHibM-WexXth51za-NJusE21kpV_wwIg" width="400" height="446">

I did a little bit with it at the start just to make sure it wasn't crap and then I did everything! Even the doors. I swear that my plastic scratches before the paint does. It works like a dream. I've done the hard plastic as well as the softer vinyl and it sticks to both surfaces great. It dries nice and fast as well.

I just wiped down the surface with a very small amount of thinners and made sure it was dust and crap free then gave it a tack coat of this and then two or three good coats once the tack coat had dried. I haven't had a problem with it yet.

But remember, it is still paint and will scratch/rub off if your not at least a bit careful with it. But for $15 a can you can afford to do a touch up here and there :D

Thanks for that mate, handy info :)

He's having trouble getting that large bit of the dash out between the top tweeter bit, and the lower part.

Good job on it all though, looks mint.

I'm assuming your mate has an EF/EL.
Take off kick panels
Undo two big bolts (one each side) at the bottom of dash/top of behind kick panel that face you
Take off cowl (tweeter) panel
Undo the five bolts along the top
Take off the dark grey surround for the gauges, stereo etc
Undo two bolts that hold the steering column to dash

Lift out and unplug all plugs

piece of piss

i think its in one of the docos. thats how i found to do it.

if he needs help, just PM me

I'm lazy... I took everything out of my car except the big main vinyl part which I just sprayed inside the car. Worked fine... Just had to mask windows and instruments

It turns out good if you clean the surface first, do it on a nice warm day and take everything else out including air vents etc... then it's basically like taking it out :D
