Hi guys,

I want to open up the history books of the XHII, XR6. I am trying to work out if it is the Head Cylinders still in the car. I noticed the markings on the front of the head cylinder, the 'T' and the code 95DT.

I have read in some Forums that the XH, XR6 had that particular code on their Head Cylinder and the EL up until late 97 had the EF 94dt head until the 96dt hybrid. Is it correct in saying the the 95DT coresponds only to the XHII, XR6?

Can you please direct me to someone who may be able to help.

Thanks in advance

welcome to the site mate.

dont know why, but i didnt think the utes got the hybrid engines (heads) like the rest. But i dont think thats right. the best way to tell is to take the rocker cover off and look at the springs, if they're conical, its a hybrid.

that might help a little. in reguard to that 'T' your talking about, thats not one of these, is it?

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the information.

I'm not sure i am understanding what you are saying about the Hybrid engines and the non hybrid engine. What i am trying to work out is that does other XR6's have the the 95DT Head Cylinder model like mine.

I am trying to find someone who has an original XHII XR6 Ute engine in it, if they can find the Head Cylinder code.

Thanks also for the links below however its not really relevant to what i am wanting tho.

The 95DT means it is originally manufactured for a 95 Falcon. If the head has a Capital T it is more than likely a TickFord head. The XR head is the same for XH,EF,EL up to 31/01/1998, from then on a filler engine was used until the AU came out. The Engine was similar to the AU HP but not exactly the same.

Hope that helps?

sorry, ford stopped using the normal EL head in feb 98 and started putting a lot of AU bits in instead. these are refered to as 'hybrid' motors

sorry about that, its a little confusing.
