spent about an hour and a half this morning doing the final clean up of the motor and bolting the head on,

went on with only one hiccup and that was the bbm hitting one of the brace brackets for it,

now i'll bolt my extractors up and then i'm going to slowly work my way though the week hooking all the loom up and next weekend bolt the cam and rocker gear on and then will start the motor and run it for a short time and drain the oil and coolant to get all the s**t out of it,

what cam did you end up with?? cms 2a??

how long you think the paint will last on the extractors...lol

ts engine ena heat proof clear, my brothers are still rather well painted from 5 years ago and i went with a CMS 3

which is what i wanted, i orginally was going to go standard but my brothers ef got the better of me with its idle :twisted:

Motor is ready to go back together, getting spark leads spark plugs and fuel filter tomorrow

and issue was noticed this morning regarding my timming chain,

i marked the position of the old cam sproket where the timming mark is and put the new sproket on in the same spot, how ever when the motor was rotated to top dead, the gregories manual showed there timming mark on the left hand side about to go below the top of the head

this is where mine is sitting

you have done something wrong...
make sure the engine is on compression stroke, so when the balancer is on tdc the rotor button on the dizzy should be pretty much on the no 1 lead or on the finish line on the dizzy cap base
the cam timing mark needs to be just above the head like below...

it is on it's compresstion stroke and it was put in in the same spot as the old one

well something is wrong, if you put the cam in at that point you will definatly smash valves,,,

just a thought, your engine is a hybrid???

does the original cam gear have 2 marks??
because au cam gears have 2 marks, a line and a dot...
