talking to my mate, and we think we might have found a cause, due the the motor still running a bit too rich, it may have over detonated, as I did one of my most common tricks is to go back to 2nd at 80 and compression brake,

she loves it. it revs to 4000, but they do 100 in 2nd if you took them to limiter,

Mine had traveled 370xxxkm and full synthetic 99w oil made it tight as a jews sphincter

Did you work out the problem? I had to get stronger valves and double valve springs for my cam.

still unsure as to an exact reason why,

spoke with crescent this morning and the only 2 defiant courses are, rev limiter or timing chain, and it never hit limiter and the timing appears to be 100% where we left it

also had a long chat with SS THIS about what I'd need for the DOHC conversion

NOTE: cylinder 2 exhaust valve Is not bent it's just beginning to open

I assume there are marks on the pistons?, 2 things I think of are cam timing or to much preload on lifters,either way its f**k..
