My specs book shows the AU Valves as 41mm exhaust and 47mm intake for both XR and Standard. Confirm anyone?

So, did you work out what caused the problem?

roughredXR6 wrote: So, did you work out what caused the problem? the valves and the pistons had a disagreement? I've been trying my hardest to remember, and the Monday after I did the harmonic balancer it rained the night before and I remember talking off from the lights giving it a boot full and hit a wet patch about half way though the intersection that's only time I hit rev limiter, but I can't imagine that causing an issue this far along? |

even hitting the rev limiter once or twice shouldn't cause engine destruction, that's why the limiter is there, its there to safe guard over revving ...

Well you knew it had rained therefore should have been intelligent enough to know that their would still be wet patches and you clearly should have been more careful

Got my limit raised to 6k and have hit it a few times with no load on motor, like missing 3rd and the occasional 1st to 2nd flat change. (Need an excuse to rebuild it but it just won't die). Sees 5500 on a daily basis.
