i find the hardest part is undoing the 2 top bell housing to block bolts.. once the auto is out its all down hill on easy street... :)

yeah, this is the 3rd car i've been invovled with a manual converstuon on, my extractors get in the way of one ofthe sandwhich plate bolts too

as of about 5 minutes ago my auto gear box is out! just need to undo the flex plate and i can start putting the manual stuff into it, really sick of the firewall s**t though :evil: f**k it gets itchy

haha, clutch and bell housing are on, just need to tighten up all the bell housing bolts, and see if my mate can come out and give us a hand lifting the gearbox in, then i just need to put the clutch cable in, tail sharft, oil and take it for a drive

thanks fellas,

anyone done this with paccie 4490's and wanna tell me a hint to get the sandwhich plate bolt on that goes just behind the manifold?

and waiting again, not able to lift the gear box up and slide it into the required location, everything else is done, when i was chaging the speedo gear went to pull the one out of my auto and it had smashed :evil: thought for about 5 seconds and went ahuh and got the white xr6 we're wrecking convinetly parked over a ditch, pulls it's speedo gear out and walla i had a speedo 8-)

Just note that you will lose your speed sensitive steering when you fit the XR6 ECU, as the ECU cannot drive the SPSS.

When my Ghia was a 6, it was just running a fooled Ghia ECU... I loved the Speed sensitive steering

what does speed sensitive steering acturly do? i noticed my steering is super light at idle compared to my brothers and mates

exactly that. It will be lighter at idle, and as you get faster, the steering is firmer.
