Don't you lose the climate control system as well if you use the xr ecu?
Thats why I was wondering if you were going resistor or j3, because with anything else you'd loosing a few major ghia features.

The BCM only controls the CC display unit thingo. But its the ECU that does the rest. It has sensors the judge what position the blend door should be, if fresh or recirculatung air is needed, and operates the heater tap.
I think thats right. Can anyone else confirm?

a tip for ya, connect the clutch cable ,if you can get the box in enough to get the input shaft in the clutch splines, get someone to push the pedal down while you push the box in. this will release the clutch plate allowing the input shaft to go into the spigot bearing,
or while pushing the box in push on the clutch fork with your hand or foot this will do the same thing..

it has worked for me on a few occasions, saves pulling the bellhousing off and undoing the clutch again..

+1 there.

On the the two occasions I have taken my box out I have had to do this.
I hook up the clutch before I install the box and jam the clutch pedal to the floor with a bar.

First time I did it it took me a week before I thought of this. The box was about 1-2 cm off the bellhousing.
