The switch units do have a few minor issues at this sorta age, my indicators don't turn off automatically with the wheel, it's managable cos I just use my finger, but I haven't found a second hand unit yet that dosnt have at least one side failed (left indicator is auo off but not the right one etc) maybe pull it off, clean it out with contact cleaner or somthing then re grease where it originally had it. Usually solves most Ford switch issues, saved me $150 when my power window centre console switch started playing ip, it was FULL of dirt, dust, and shrapnel. its funny you say thins. i have had 3-4 of these over the as few years and no one bought one.. even at give away. when i put my aftermarket wheel on the position of turning off changed, i think the white dooby wasnt aligned correctly, so one side would switch off with the slightest movement and the other side you needed to do a u-turn to make it switch off lol. |

Yer lowlane7 that's right. I pulled the switch to wards me to flash the headlight and it would stay on. All I had to do was play around with the switch a couple of times and that seemed to fix it.

Hey guys sorry about these long periods of time where I don't post. Any way since I last posted I have put in some new pads all round and rear rotors. I must say it actually is pretty easy to change the rear rotors. I also noticed the Sls rear end had been scrapped and a previous owner had put in some motorcraft shocks and heavy duty coils, lol now I know why the rear end sits so high . Next job for me is to finally get my elec windows sorted, as I found that the back left window had slid down while it was raining and I got some water inside. No to much drama though as it dried out with the sun the next day. But otherwise that's about it for the work on the car as I don't have much time to spend on it. But after school at the end of the year I'm going to have stacks of time, so bring on the mods

The other day when it was raining I noticed the the wipers on my dads ef fairmont are alot faster and are quieter than the ones on the ltd.... Is it possible to put in a ef fairmont wiper motor in to the ltd to make the wipers just as fast??? Also when my wipers are on and I turn the headlights on they seem to slow down... What could that mean dodgy alternator or mayby bad battery terminals?? Thank for the help

On the second one though, that's interesting. It was raining on the drive to Adelaide last weekend and at one stage I had my lights on (low beam) and wipers on 1st speed and had no slowing I noticed. Although I find 2 is a little faster but jerks more at top wipe so I don't know if it's wearing out or what but 1 is just as effective. Maybe your regulator bushes are getting worn or dirty, try cleaning up your alternator at the same time. When I first got mine I discovered the alternator was covered in power steering oil and dirt when my battery charging started to play up. I gave it a flush out with brake cleaner and cleaned the bushes and contacts and it cleared it all up.

yer lowlane7 im going to get a ef/l wiper motor from pick a part and ill see if it fits, if not ill see if i can some how adapt it. also i though i might add some photos of my last weekends work when i changed the rear pads and rotors. lol

With the rotor off pic... Did you put the caliper back on for the pic? Or did you manage the job with it still bolted on??

Yes I had to take the caliper off I just bolted it back on while I took the photo so the caliper wouldn't hang on the break hose.

I started the ltd last night all fine then I turn it off(too put more fuel in) I start it again no probs but then all the electrics dim down completely and the radio turns off. I checked the battery it was on 8-10volts.....but the car was still running, is this a crook alternater????

could be alternator or battery.. grab a tester unit and see what power is coming off the alternator... and test the battery from full charge while its running. it does sound like alternator tho..

i tested the alternater charge and it was almost nil. then after leting the car run for a little while it started to work againg and was charging at about 13.5volts ????

hit it with some degreaser.. if its head a power steering leak at some point i can assure you it will be full of gunk.. after that hit it with contact cleaner or circuit board cleaner... i done this with my factory one and it got me an extra 4-6 months out of it

Last week I finished school for the year, so I wanted to get the ltd out of the backyard and back undercover so I could start some work on it...well i started the ltd and went to reverse it out of it's little spot...well it turns out it was bogged!!!! And it's was stuck down deep with the mud up to the bottom of the alloys. At this point I needed to get it out so I asked of some assistance from my dad, we hooked a tow rope on to another car and gave it a pull...the rope snapped, we tried this again with 3 more ropes and broke them all. I started to get desperate and I decided to see if I could sort of give it a little push forward with the other car, this proved to work a little but still it was stuck, and now with a slight dint on the rear bumper and my dad and I covered in dirt it's still bogged!!! Has anybody got some advice on how to free Bogged cars, or should I just wait for the backyard to dry out completely??? And help is appreciated, thanks in advance

ropes will NEVER get cars out... go to supercheap or a 4x4 store and spend $30-60 and buy a snatch strap.. they have a little stretch in them. get the biggest one you can afford and 2 big red D-shackels they are about $9 ea not expensive.. and anyone knows pushing a 1600kg bogged car with another will result in damage...
