I'll definaty go down to supercheap some time this week and get a snatch strap. with the little dint In the rear bumper I've managed to heat it up with a heat gun (I think that's it's name) and it poped straight out.

As per huggiebear's advice I went to super cheap on Saturday morning and got myself a snatch strap. After a good decent pull from the other car the ltd came free :) . But stupidly as I reversed it out of the back yard I forgot to put the aerial down, so it clipped on the close-line and bent. Later I had an attempt to straighten it but it still doesn't work probably as it's still bent slightly(I'm surprised it worked at all). Once the car was undercover I decided to give a good wash to get rid of the mud, as I washing I notices the clear coat on the paint seems to be pealing on some of the panels.....is there anyway to fix the clear flacking?? I'm also giving the ltd some ef thermo fans within the holidays as the stupid clutch fan is annoying me, and I also hate the noise it makes when u first start the car.

you can fix the clear but its not an easy job.. go get a quote from a panel shop.

glad to see you got it out. clear coat can start to lift due to small sticks and crap falling from trees.. mine now has this across my bonnet but im not too worried as i have a spare one to go on.

I might see if u can get a quote from a panel beater, but since the paint is the last thing on the to do list it will probaly have to wait :).

Since finding the rust last night, I'm going to dedicate my Saturday. To going over the whole car looking for anymore dreaded rust. Does anyone know the 'hot spots' of where it's commonly found on ltd/fairlanes???

same as a falcon.. rear dog legs. under the cowling, in the sill panels under the doors...

the only rust mine has is in the rear door steps where the plastic step covers wore through the paint creating a small amount of rust but im having it cut out once its back on the road.. also boot channeling (lift off the rubber to check) id also be removing the front 1/4 panels and looking under there. the insides of my front 1/4 panels were starting to show signs of rust too
