well i thought it was about time to do one of these..
long story short. i missed having the eb ghia. and when the issues with the ltd far exceeded what it was worth to fix properly i cut my losses so its the parts car now. what the plans are, put this on the road in the new year. but swap all the new bushes into it. so it has no issues for rwc its a 1993 Eb S pack emerald green, duel fuel, catback exhaust, xh intake, xr bobtail spoiler. au auto, and a reco ef xr6 motor with serpintine setup. oh and the ef donk was reco'd about 30 thousand k's ago too aircon works too, which im happy about plans mod wise.. put the leather interior from the dc into the eb, elec windows and all. fit my old extractors. fit the manual conversion from the ghia into this. then over time build up the v8 from the ltd and swap the motors, after a manual conversion for the v8 is sourced so pretty much its going to be my project car, as im keeping the magna for a daily for a while. some piccys some evil twit had fitted a ed grill on it, so thats coming off once i find a green eb grill one of the tickford head finally no interior pics as the seats have been swapped for better condition ones out of a ed classic. as the old owner said the s pack ones were fairly shot thanks for looking Last edited by 89S-PACK on Tue Nov 25, 2014 11:47 pm, edited 9 times in total. |

oh also has slotted and drilled rotors on the front, arent that old.
and new tyres on the front. so eventually the rear will cop some slotted rotors too at least. as this thing easily out brakes the dc with abs. and i'll end up lowering it too, just a shame i sold my 6cyl sl's a month before i got the eb. oh well i might wait on lowering it till the v8 goes in. but the mudflaps might come off soonish though |

decided on how im fixing the faulty speedo issue, the fun way.
its currently reading 10k out, so the au btr is coming out for my t5. yup i happen to have a complete manual conversion sitting in the shed out of the ghia, was in the plans to convert it eventually only issue i have is. the ecu i have is pre smartlock (1dac). will i be able to use this in a smartlock equipped car? i have NO interest using a j3, or a el ecu. as i see it a waste of time and money, as i'll never be fitting a rotten bbm manifold to it. also its a big mess about that i'd have to reverse when it goes over to a 5 litre. what will i likeley have to do if it refuses to run right with the early ecu? as disabling the smartlock or making the bcm think its functioning is something i'd be happy to do also would there be any interest in a ed classic interior? as it would be a shame to take it to the tip when the time comes to pull it all out |

well i made some progress on this last week.
started with doing the rear looms first as i have intentions of fitting electric windows down the track. original idea was to use the ltd looms, but after careful consideration.. i decided it is easier to just source other looms. as i can't be bothered gutting crap i don't want if a fairmont loom is what i want. with nil effort in comparison so the ed futura seats are out. so if anyone would like some im open to offers? also got the fairmont carpet out of the car i got the loom from. its in better condition than the one i had. i got busy swapping the rear looms, which is a royal pita with a lpg tank in place in regards to fuel pump looms. one thing that i found is odd? i seem to have a weird dash\engine bay looms. as i have everything there plugs etc for electric windows to plug and play. yet im missing the wiring for the trip computer, cruise control, also the wiring for abs in the dash and bonnet looms. i'll be fitting the trip computer when the dash is off regardless when i get to swapping the pedal box over. maybe i should just get a fairmont dash loom and refit my blue bcm. as curtesy lights and door ajar sensors are just a waste of time im my eyes as im not aiming for a ghia mockup other than that im yet to make a start swapping control arms etc yet as the ones in the ltd are near new, where the eb ones are flogged out. i was considering shoving the lsd under the rear... but alas it doesn't limit slip that well anymore, so it will be kept as a spare for when and if i break the single pegger. well i'll let the pictures do some talking now old interior.. mind the mess carpet and old loom out fairmont loom, and the seats that i kept out of the ghia wreck oh the ltd woodgrain will be staying too, oh and also when i had the carpet out to swap i fitted my rca leads and sub wiring to connect later Last edited by 89S-PACK on Sun Oct 07, 2012 11:27 pm, edited 2 times in total. |

well a threadmine of sorts.. finally got time off work to go upto the olds to get some work done to the eb.
so whats done so far.. all the rear end bushes from the ltd are now in the eb. mix of nolathane and whiteline (heavy duty's in new arms) bushes. firmed the a*** right up with those in there now. then i made a start doing the pedal box swap.. went smoothly apart having to cut a few wires to re route them through another hole in the firewall tomorrow (were run through clutch cable hole) but a slight oddity before i ripped the dash off. i fitted the 1DAC into the eb as it sat being auto with no other mods etc.. starts and runs on petrol and lpg with a PRE smartlock ecu. in a car that DOES have smartlock smartlock light even functions as it would normally too then took it for a spin. the auto picks up gear, its just in lhm as you'd all expect. so with that working.. i have made plans to have the auto out tomorrow. took the opportunity to remove the last of the old carphone kit. and that was installed in a semi dodgy way. twist joints around fuses?? im glad i ripped it out well as i forgot the camera data cable doh! pictures are coming in the next few days but any suggestions under the dash anyone could suggest to remount the lpg ecu? its a sprint computer.. so the size of a cd player and was tek screwed to the auto pedal box.. but it can no longer live there but i do have some freeplay in the looms to move it elsewhere Last edited by 89S-PACK on Thu Nov 22, 2012 12:10 am, edited 1 time in total. |

also im trying to nut out which front looms i have in the car atm..
i seem to have a dash\engine bay loom that has the required wiring for electric windows, the dash tweeters, and wiring for cruise.. and all the fuses are all in too iirc the s pack used the low model looms? hence my confusion as my ea s pack used a slightly modified gl loom for the sports cluster from what i could work out sure its making my life easy on fitting some upgrades etc.. but a little stumped why it has some options, and not others? |

At least yours is a Smartlock model.
My old Red EB11 GL sedan was a pre smartlock which made life even more interesting. The reason a non smartlock ECU will run in an Smartlock car is because the non smartlock ECU doesn't give a damn if there is a smartlock signal or not. Keep working away at it. Cheers BenJ

Cheers BenJ im not a real fan of smartlock to be honest.. a decent car alarm does a better job in my eyes my 92 ghia was pre smartlock and i actually found it easier electrically to work on. and parts somewhat easier to source, but i didnt really do much to that car. but all opinions do differ though yeah true.. as i've found in my other thread. seems where i had gotten my info from was somewhat incorrect. oh i am.. manual conversion is nearly done too auto came out rather easily and found where the coolant was going too lucky it was just the rear welch plug that decided it was its turn to let go. so tomorrow i'll have it together but wont be filling the box till next week as i left the morey's and dex 3 in melbourne.. i feel rather silly for that so before roadworthy it'll be basically all done. as what im yet to do.. find a new home for the lpg ecu and reconnect the wiring i had to cut fit electric window reg's to all 4 doors obtain another elec window switchset for the centre console as mine are broken swap the front control arms over between the ltd and eb as they are nolathane bushes too refit the front guard indicators.. then after new year take it in and see what i have missed to obtain a rwc im hoping not much.. as im hanging to drive this legally and not on temp permit restrictions |

well here's the pics i said i had..
doing the rear end.. no before pics though nolathane and whitleline replacement arms are in.. with the rear swaybar on nolathane bushes. swaybar is the one off the v8 aswell i hadnt done any tight at that stage as i had to find the gregories for the tension spec's its handy having a manual ecu lying around dash off fun.. the all important 3rd pedal huh factory tweeters? i wasnt expecting those undercar fun.. for once the torque converter didnt grab the spigot and was easy to remove.. cant say the same for a previous conversion banished to the garage as a spare for dads el hmm fun to be had cleaning the after effects of a stuffed extension housing seal! meh cbf'd what t bar shifter? now where to hide this?? as it used to be tek screwed to the auto pedal box.. cant live there anymore lucky i have some slack on the looms! oh and lastly.. i had the ecu in storage in the garage for a while.. and it works still! my old shed didnt exactly stay that dry as i found out {DESCRIPTION} no pics of clutch and flywheel fitment onwards as i forgot Last edited by 89S-PACK on Sat Nov 24, 2012 8:13 pm, edited 1 time in total. |
