looking good. but you did the shifter plate the hard way.
i did it the other week without removing the seats or handbrake. im not sure why you did that? as the seats are in no way attached to the console. |

Explain how.... I did it because its what my workshop manual said to do and in my own attempts to do it without removing the seats or handbrake, I didn't get enough room to unclip the lens from the assembly, for which a flat screwdriver is required, otherwise you break the lens. Nor did I have the room to slide the lens up the shifter stalk. The seats aren't attached to the console, you're right, but getting at those bolts which hold the console to the bump in the car is almost impossible without removing the seats. Not trying to be snarky. I'm all for easier ways to do things like that. |

yer all good mate, after i read through fords stealership manual at the counter when they were booking me in for $200 of work if i bought my own parts. laughed and walked off. i got reading
put ur chairs the whole way up and you can easily get your sockets into those 2 bolts that hold it to the hump. move your chairs the whole way back now and strip your console of all the bits that clip on basically. bananna trims, shifter cover, shifter knob, cup holder. centre console lid and rear airvents, handbrake cover (hard to get off the first time theres a blob of glue in the middle bottom of the boot u need to slide your hands under there to break away from the lever) well you get the point.. then push the drivers side of the console down and towards the passenger side where there handbrake clips into it and lift up (this moves the console out from under the handbrakes arms) simply undo all the surrounding bolts and pull the console back and upwards. get into the back seat and crawl on under! |

Still seems pretty complicated to me. Having said that though, just like on a computer there are many ways to do the same task. And holy moly, yours was bubbled worse than mine was.

Ok, another bling update. I have my Momo steering wheel and gear lever. I've installed the lever but am waiting until I can get an auto headlamp combo switch to put the steering wheel, just so I can kill two birds with one stone.
Of course, piccies: Attachment: knob.jpg Attachment: knobwheel.jpg Attachment: wheel.jpg Attachment: wheelclose.jpg
