Nice lookin xr mate. It's good to see people that are meticulous about their cars. Just a question about the paint on your car. Is there any clear coat peeling off it anywhere? Coz if there isn't and it's just a bit faded, then spend some time working the paintwork. Trust me, it saves big bucks, time, and you maintain it's originality in the long run. Ill see if I can put up some pics of the possibility of squeezing the most potential outa your paintwork.

Thanks man I could restore the paint but it has some dents and stuff so I'd rather paint it so it looks brand new

How bad are the dents and how many are there?

Quite a few that can't be fixed without a respray

Coz if the main body of the car is ok and it's replaceable panels that are dinted, then look around for straight panels off another car the same colour as yours and bolt em on. Then spend a good couple of weekends prepping and working the paint. I've got a nf fairlane ghia in n9 navy blue and I'm in the process of wet rubbing the entire car. I'm removing scratches and getting rid of orange peel outa the paint, then buffing it, then glaze buffing it and it's coming up like a wet sheet of dark metallic blue glass! The paint looks better than new! It's very labor intensive but the end result is outa this world!

Unfortunately one of the flairs have a scrape

So I take it it's one of the rear quarter panels that's scraped and not one of the front guards?

A panel shop will probly sting ya upwards of $2000 for a closed door re spray. If you don't wanna spend that much on a re spray, then maybe look at getting repaired just the damaged rear quarter panel, then replacing any dinted bolt on panels then buff the rest of the car

Haven't posted anything for a while so here's a quick update!
In the last few weeks I've got power window switches and rear door looms , painted the front end and AC condenser painted my exhaust, cleaned my idle speed controller and throttle body, flushed the coolant and put a new genuine bottle and sensor, changed lower control arm bushes to Nolathane then got it wheel aligned and cleaned up the rubber intake pipe that was white and some more that I can't remember... Should have more to post soon! |

Comparing my new 20s to the old 16s Stripped out the interior for power windows install and for the new carpet... Couldn't believe how clean the floor was... Started putting the wheels on! Tailights, handles and blacked out pillars all done Sat the front bar into sort of position :p Rear bar and wing on! Front bar, mirrors and red stripe fully bolted Rear end shot! Door trims all on!
