Hey guys recently bought a late 98 EL XR6, it's my first car and is a neat car overall but needs a paint job there is not a drop off rust on it!!
What I would like to do to it: Full respray in factory colour Full Tickford Body Kit ( Got everything except the front lip, anyone have one? ) Fairmont door inserts to fill the gap - Done Deciding on whether I should tint EF tailights or keep EL tailights Change Carpet Momo steering wheel Remove mudflaps - Done Install a mad stereo Paint brakes Get some silver agents if my dads wheels don't fit Detail the underneath of the car as good as I can Put extractors, high flow cat and 2.5" sports cat back ( Have it all already just have to install it ) Lower it ( Have super low king front and ultra low rear just need shocks and to install them ) And heaps more that I can't think of Some Pics... Got some presents for it Got a MOMO wheel that needs re trimming not sure if I'll use it or not Got rid of the crappy bonnet shield.. Then gave it a wash! What tailights does everyone think I should use?? Still don't know what tailights to use.. Took off the bumpers!! Placed my wing on to see what it looks like.. My condenser was full of bugs and was bent in some spots. So I decided to clean it up and also degrease the front end.. Tested my footwell lights And discovered I have a rare car one of 1600 Hybrid EL motors anyone know what the difference is from a normal EL XR6? Cleaned up my rear end.. Got some xenon's Wired and mounted my footwell lights These are the lights I used Started cleaning up and painting under my wheel arches More to come soon! Today I removed my back left caliper to pull it appart and to paint it red and I will be painting the hub/rotor silver using killrust..
Took me all day to paint and prep as I wanted it perfect so it sticks on well.. I sanded the hub back and used some rust converter to get ready to paint silver tomorrow.. Here's a preview... Should have another update tommorow! |

So today I finished the other rear brakes and I'm very happy with it just needs to be driven to take the paint off the disc, I have also pulled out the original springs so I can paint everything and to fit the ultra lows!
Here's how the car looks at the moment... With a wheel sitting in place.. Does anyone know what the weld is there for is it to help brace the firewall?? Tomorrow should be painting the diff.. |

yes that weld is to help reinforce the firewall, only needs to be done on the manual cars!
as over time the firewall can crack

Today's update!
Painted my diff and most the rear suspension.. Here's half of it painted to show a before and after... Fully painted.. The King ultra lows next to the standard ones not much difference between them in height but the ultra lows were a bit softer... Put in the new springs... And that's how it sits with a 19" agent.. More to come! |
