Lol. Money conscious. As much as I want the man pedal, I don't want it broken to get it.

hmm please answer honest did you thrash it at all ?

I had a dream about your EB its a barn find :) sure it may not have been sitting there for 20+ years full of rust

But it technically has been kept in a shed for years as mentioned in the first post :)

If it was thrashed its quite possible the springs were weak enough to fail and drop the valves, infact ive never heard of that happening on any 5.0's that wernt race motors.

And how long had the car sat for and did you do any servicing on the car BEFORE spinning the motor up that hard?

Am I right in thinking the dowel on the cam elongated the hole on the back on the timing gear effectively skipping a tooth resulting in piston kissing valve?

Series 1 EB's are not as they/Ford had not realised the need for a limiter at that point of time, some of the ECU's carried over into EB S2 without a limiter as well.

Even my old 5 speed I6 S1 EB had no limiter, made it interesting with alot of boost, was hard to catch it sometimes.

It turns out the chain stretched whilst sitting. Me giving it a bootful never helped. The old busted 5L is out and gets stripped tomorrow to confirm the cause of Valves kissing pistons. New motor will be in and running monday.

How does a chain stretch while sitting?
