yes indeed i need more info before i start anything major.
my budget is 6k + tuning. as i already have injectors and engine management, im hoping it should cover most of it. as for a power figure i was looking at 300rwhp+ for now. and cheers mate, i will check out those turbo's you suggested.

a mate that works at muffler rebel has offered to knock up an exhaust for me. either a twin 2.5inch system or twin 3 inch with new cats and a lukey muffler on each pipe for 600 - 700. which would be best?
i've been flicking through fordforums and there seems to be afew e series 8's running 2 vg30DET turbo's (single turbo engine). these seem pretty cheap. what is the opinion with these? one guy suggested putting a high flow kit through them. cheers.

Exhaust depends on what configuration you are running again. for a single turbo a 3" or even 3 1/2" would be fine, for a twin turbo, twin 2 1/2" is ideal. Im not sure about using 2nd hand turbo's. By the tme they are rebuilt and high flowed (steel wheels) it would make sense to just buy new?

ye TT set up, so i'll go with the twin 2.5 system.
i can get second hand turbo's off a vg30det for around 500 each. so to just get it up and running shouldnt be too expensive. depending on how long they last

I bought two Precision SC63/s T3/4 hybrids, watercooled and ball bearing...Scroll to bottom..
http://www.pagparts.com/perfpts1.asp?pp ... =sportt3t4 These would be far too much power wise for std block!!! A set of SC61's with smaller trim would fine... A S400sx would do the trick with these specs.. *S400SX Specs* Compressor Wheel Inducer - 75mm Compressor Wheel Exducer- 100mm Turbine Wheel Inducer - 83mm Turbine Wheel Exducer - 74mm Turbine Wheel Trim - 79 Turbine Outlet - V-Band Turbine Inlet - T4 or T6 Turbine A/R - 1.10 Horsepower Rating - 500-1000 This would cost around $1500 or so depending on postage?? This would be used as single turbo.. Another cheap-sh option is a Masterpower T70.. http://www.frantik.co.nz/Products/T-70/masterpower.htm The singles would require a seperate external wastegate which would cost $600 to $800 for a decent sized gate.. The lower your boost levels the bigger the gate required...But the way its fabricated is 70% the way it works better... I like either Teal or Turbosmart when it comes to [external] w/gates... Both single and twins have there plumbing issues... You need a crossover pipe to jpin the two turbo's... Same on exhaust when going single... The Nissan turbo's where first fitted on my std 5.0 block.. They have ceramic turbine wheels which break off and cost over $2k to fix for the two with steel wheels... With twins if one breaks then the other realy should be fixed too as they will surge, they need to flow the same... The air comp was removed and fitted to idler pulley where the U.S have there air pump... Here is comparison between VG30's and SC61's... The SC61's are bigger... There is obviously a much different size here..About 200 odd h.p difference.. Engine out to fix ignition pick up on front pulley... Crossover pipe... Yes looks strange out of engine bay... Air con compressor fitted... Notice the stainless steel flexable oil return lines...

ah just what i've been waiting for.
thanks mate. i just sent PPT an email so i will see whats the best price they can do and go from there. i'm guessing secondhand ones would be quite scarce. can i ask who made your manifolds? cheers.

Liverpool exhaust did the them.. But they are easy to make using steam pipe bends etc from places like Blackwoods...
The std ones can be used when flipped, and modified to fit with a welded flange plate to accept turbo... Cruze over to http://www.theturboforums.com/smf/index.php SO much information!!! Knowledge base http://www.turbomustangs.com/knowledge.php

I would say two of these..
http://www.pagparts.com/turbodetail.asp?id=16617 .63 turbine housings with smaller trim to help good spool... Send an Email off to Arnold.. Tell him I sent you...

sorry to drudge up this old thread...
but after along time gathering dust, this project has been reborn! the plan is to now rebuild a 5litre suitable for boost! 331 stroker twin turbo windsor to be precise. now comes the question. i plan on getting block bored 30 thou, decked and possible crack tested. with a 331 stroker kit from US and a combo (heads, cam, intake) yet to be decided. but will probably end up using the edelbrock RPM performer intake manifold i currently have. if someone can suggest a tried and tested combo!??! now, with a safe tune, well chosen combo and conservative boost of 7psi, will the block hold?!? reliably.... ( if funds permitted, i would be taking the safe route and purchasing a dart or man o'war replacement!) i know its a very hard question to answer, but hopefully experienced builders will be able to give me some insight! any help would be greatly appreciated fella's!

Use Eagle or Scatt rotating assembly.. Mill deck and heads REAL SMOOTH, fit ARP studs and Cometic or MLS head gaskets.. Aim for around 8.5 to 8.8 compression...I run .028 top ring gap and .032 bottom ring end gap.. But you'll get away with .022 top and .025 lower end gap...Or as manu specs ... The std rotating assembly can take as much or more than block, but I would fit some I or H beams... Consider what bolts are used ?? etc as some need extra milling of lower bores..
Cam ?? Just a GT spec is all thats required or std with 1.72 roller rockers... High energy sump for better oil cooling and don't forget to weld in some return lines...Believe it or not you get less detonation with piston above deck alittle and using appropriate head gasket...There are off the shelf pitons out there with 18cc dish which should suit you fine...Btw go the least over bore you can... Linish crank for slightly extra clearance and run high vol / normal pressure pump..The turbo's do drain some oil away... You can get away with short inlet manifold thats more race than road... Good valve springs even though cam is very tame...

as always very helpful EBXR8380!
i have been investigating 331 stroker kits. and this from the US seem's quite good?? http://www.rpmmachine.com/scat-strokerk ... 750hp.html forged dish top pistons with I - beams. i plan on possibly running AFR185's and im fairly sure there 64cc?!? so compression would be suitable at 8.7.... parts currently acquired.. - 8 x 42Lb FMS injectors - Adaptronic e420c ECU - high energy sump ( conventry's quoted me $330 for standard sump, so payed an extra $20 for the aftermarket product ) - mellings high volume oil pump - Edelbrock RPM performer manifold - 5litre already to be stripped and block sent in for machining. - boost guage and simple T piece boost controller. - Will order two precision turbo's and 331 stroker kit to suit in the coming weeks.

Nice work go the twins:P
Well my bro has a 1995 mustang and bought 1 of those ebay america twin turbo kits. But he didnt buy the kit for the 95 stang he bought it for his 1971 mach1 which has a 302 windsor in it with a mild cam and procomp alloy heads, the kit did not even closely fit that car so he chopped up the manifolds and made them fit his engine bay He hooked everything up and did a carby setup, pipes from the cooler straight into the carby. He could never get it to go well so he got p****d off and put it all onto his 95 mustang which he has also put procomp alloy heads on it and with a very hot cam. All running on standard computer with auto no stall converter i would say the car would have done a flat 13 or high 12 with no computer mods. Now he has Fit all the twin turbo stuff to the 1995 mustang with Alot of MODS to get it in there.. The car is now scary lol hits 200kmh very quickly. not sure wat 1/4mile it would be doing. the turbos are just those cheap ebay ones which are called t3/t4's .. think there like a .63 rear housing. they are pretty good have given him no trouble.. but now for some reason some1 has talked him into going single setup.so soon it will all be changed and running with a micrtoech that has been sitting in the shed for a while.
