I am very interested about the steering column switch swap. When you have time could you please elaborate a bit? Looks great. And it wouldn't be a real conversion without some mishaps BenJ Sure can mate, i don't have any more pictures of it, but i can explain it i think. If you have an EF/EL switch setup, and an EB switch setup, they look completly different from the front. If you turn them over, the backside of them look almost identical. In this photo the yellow arrows show points where you have to unclip the switchs out, and the pink arrows show points where screws hold the wiper stalk and switch. Be careful with the clips, they don't need to be moved very far at all to be unclipped, or they may break. when you unscrew the wiper stalk switch, the cover will just pull off, and the whole stalk will also pull out. *** Beware not to lose the ball bearing locator!!! Before you refit the EF/EL switchs into the EB bracket, you have to swap the EF blinker stalk in (THIS IS OPTIONAL, YOU CAN USE THE EB STALK WITH THE EF/EL SWITCHS) In this photo, the top part is the EB bracket fitted with the EF wiper stalk, and under it in my hand is the EF blinker stalk that i am about to swap in. The arrows show points that are on the opposite side of the bracket (IE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF WHAT THE PHOTO IS SHOWING) that need to be unclipped to release the blinker stalk, and it will come out as a unit just like whats in my hand. *** Again be careful not to lose the ball bearings, or the contacts on the back of the switch. Then, just re-assemble the EF switchs onto the EB bracket in the reversre of how they came apart, and it will fit staight to the EB column like normal, yet you have the EF switchs and brackets. Only thing you'll have to do with the wiring is rewire the horn wires that come out of the back of the EB bracket into the horn wiring on the EF column loom. ***If you are only doing this for cosmetic purposes, then just fit the stalks without the switchs. the EF/EL stalks will work with the EB switchs and wiring just fine*** Hope all that makes sense. Andrew.

Thanks mate, Yeah its low, and hard to get some places, but i like them low. I'd love to put rims on it, but i like to keep the stock look. I've always had a wierd fetish for the "slammed on stocko's" look. Andrew.

Hey fellow modders
Well over this weekend i have been quite the busy guy. Yesterday i used a holesaw to bore the hole in the floor required for the EF handbrake cable to go through, and ran the cable for my new stacker, which ment i could finally put the carpet in. I reinstalled all the doortrims, and refitted all the dash facia pieces etc. HOWEVER, while testing the rear electric windows, the left rear goes DOWN-UP-DOWN-UP-SNAP-FALL DOWN........ &%#$ %^^& $$^&% $#$ So i pulled the mechanism out of a wreck, drilled out the spot welds down the bottom of the runner, and swapped the carriage over onto mine, and simply riveted it back together, it works great, although i tyhink a cable may have twisted slightly, and the down up motion now has a small wierd sound coming from inside the motor/spindle assembly, D'OH. I also got me some sexytime, AU clear repeaters. Also, does anyone know what this plug is in the boot part of the EF loom? And this one near the ECU? Anyway, i cleaned all inside yesterday, and today i'm going to degrease the handprints and old muck from the old engine out of the engine bay, and wash the exterior, and hopefully get some good photos to post. Andrew.

I thought someone would notice this, lol.
The lug on the back of the AU repeaters seems to be too big to go into the hole, the inner skin of the guard is in the way, by simply turning them, the fit. How has everyone else gotten around this?

Ok, repeaters are fitted the right way, interior all cleaned, time for some photos.
BTW, i haven't had the chance to wash the car or degrease the engine bay. As you can see i still need a gear shift surround out of a manual EF/EL, and i still need to install kickpanels. If i wanna use the EF ones, i have to get a new drivers one, If i wanna use the EB ones, i have to paint or recover them. So i'm still deciding. Also i still need an ashtray door thing, it was missing out of the Fairmont. I added the Fairmont badges in front of the 4litre badges, i like it, but not sure if i like enough to keep them there. The new Alpine 6 stack mp3 stacker is all fitted, and works a treat on the factory headunit, as does the subwoofer, which's amp is running of the factory H/u's rear channels, and it works well. The front speakers are JBL, and the dash tweeters work great. Its actually a good sound from such a system. I apper to have blown the IGN on bulb in the trip computer, but i have all the gear to do the Neon LED conv anyway, so probably next week. So with those few things sorted, i'll be happy enough for a while, so i can start saving for the products needed for me to perform the AU silver respray. Andrew.
