I would definitely buy a set!
Pimp when you do mould them are you going to make them a woodgrain finish or like Benj's ones? Painted in a colour of our choice? |

LOL at the stinga, hahaha.
As for the questions about the trims, i would probably be looking at supplying them smoothed and ready to paint to buyers colour of choice, for 2 reasons, - So the paint gets no damage in post - So the buyer can get exactly the colour they want. Woodgrain finish would be difficult, the only way i see that you would get a great looking finish would be airbrushing it, which is a shame, because i think they would be quite popular if they could be redone in woodgrain. Maybe veneer could be finished to it, but not sure if it would be flexable enough.

if someone has some nice cedar or something simlar they could mould their own propper wood trims.
its a shame that ford went to plastic... they break soo easily. i was tempted to paint the fairlane wood grain trims black.. but im afraid to touch it lol. off topic, have you got a spare manual drivers window mechanism? |

offtopic, yes i do, but its the eb's old one, its pretty stuffed.
I wanted to originally have a go at making them out of actual timber, but it would be very difficult to get them perfect, although, i'm no timber guy, i'm a metal guy. The company next door to my work has a cnc timber mill, maybe it could do it. I might look into this also.

I could do the dash spear, but they are plentyfull at wreckers anyway.
I definatly know my electrical problem (if you have read my thread in interior forum) is in the dash loom. Its either a corroded earth point, or split earth wire. I have been on the hunt for a daily for a while so the EB can become the weekend car, and i have found a suitable car, one that i can take 4x4ing too, i love 4x4ing. Just got to get it roadied and regeod next week hopefully, then i can pull the dash back out of the mont and find the problem in the dash loom. I can also then get into the paintwork, and fit the new engine parts, along with a new roof lining. WOOT!

great build up mate.
just wondering does air flow through the EF Mont alloys? or do they have a black backing? i have a ELFutura and wouldnt mind some ford rims for it. i was thinking ELXR8 rims, but would prefer something a bit more 'classy' maybe from a fairmont or fairlane |

they have a plastic panel that screws/bolts to the back of the rim to stop brake dust from getting on the outside so the rims look clean all the time, but they can be removed for airflow

Whether air would flow, i don't know, but they have a plastic backing in them, but you can push them out, like on his.

Ledfoot - Thanks mate. Yes they had a plastic backing, but its only clipped in, i simply pushed them out. Air certainly does flow through them now, which is much better for the brakes.
As an UPDATE : The 4x4 is now all registered, and i have 2 weeks of, so i will be pulling the dash out this week to find this electrical fault, also i will be starting on the body smoothing ready for paint. Hopefully in a couple of months i'll have it painted. I know its later than i hoped, but s**t has been hectik lately. I shall keep ya'll posted.

A little update.
I'm 99% sold the shell of my old drift car this weekend, so i will have the cash to get the remaining gear for the head combo to go on, including: - AU headgasket - Crow XR valve springs - New timing chain while its all off - New guides aswell - Rocker cover gasket - My chiptorqure retuned - New cat. I think thats all of it, only other thing is to get the head machining done, i've decided against doing the valves for now, just because of cashflow. It'll be just receiveing the goods i have, and head shave, with new seals and guides. On the other hand, as of 7 this morning i started pulling the dash back out to find this electrical problem. here is a random pic, i had to back the car in to do it (so doors dont hit poles) and it took a few bits of timber to do so to get it in, it goes in forward fine, but not backwards. And here is dash ready to come out. Although i can't take it out yet as i'm the only one home, and my mates are working. I'm not going to try myself, its just too fkn awkward. Anyway, anyone who knows the pain in the assness of this job, wish me luck.

And hoorah!! the dash is out.
And now onto testing every circuit in the entire dash loom to try and find the problem, as it seems impossible to get an EF Mont dash loom without trading in a body part. So i will start the testing now, i have a feeling more booze than normal will be drank this arvo. Andrew.
