coil packs should be fine... but the leads id be worried about unless you go to somewhere like QLD ignition leads and get a full set custom made for like 80 bucks or something (anzac av petrie tho those in QLD )

Oh no i didnt, haha.

Yeah timing cover was removed so while it was apart i could do the chain/guides/gaskets and seal. I dont want to pull it apart again so i did it all now.

I have look at temps of the coilpacks after driving, and they are hell of alot cooler than the bmm which they normally sit under. They dont really get hot at all but if you were fussy you could make some sort of heat sheild.

Remember 99% of cars with factory coilpacks have them either in between the cams on a twin cam covered by a heat inducing cover, or where ford put them. They can take alot of heat no worries.

Hey Pimpsire, any good tips on doing the door inserts with real wood yet? Electric planer or soaking / steaming to get the bend and flex into the wood? The panels they sit on aren't exactly flat after all...

Ho hum, I should really just give it a go myself I guess. Ain't that much of a slouch when it comes to working wood... (Or cutting off ones own thumbs....)

Seeing as its just thin wood some coar5e (gosh I hate the swear filter, it means I have to resort to butchering the english language... more so than usual) sandpaper to get it to the right shape would work I'd say.

I'm glad you asked that fiendy boy.

A guy at work is going to help me with the timber, as he has some experience and i dont. I have a spare set of door cards i'm going to take the tops off, and he is going to steam them and make them suit the doors shape, of course this will happen after we plane them down to around 8-9mm thick.

This guys best mate owns a timber furniture shop, so they have the appropriate equipment to help me achieve this. I had never heard of this steaming business until thursday when he suggested it.

Uhm, dude - Why do I bother?

post963653.html#p963653

All good tho, would be nice to have that equipment, for sure... You can manage without, but like someone said just above, it is a small hunk of wood, and keeping a twist in it would prove problematic. Without the proper equipment of any nature you could simply sand or plane the back to suit the top of the door card... I may yet try this method... Will wait for a decent bit of hardwood like Rimu or something to show it's head. In fact - I have some "pre-warped" bits outside in the weather... Although, as you may know, it's pretty hard to tell wood to stop warping, so it'll probably be sweet in the car for a year and then the gaps will get bigger and bigger.............

However much I like woodgrain, there's no way it's going to match my blue and black and chrome / alloy Aliens theme... So, they're going to be painted sparkley blue or black anyway. Thus all my woodwork will be made to look like plastic. They could even be made from bog!

cool did you manage to get the BBM on without much trouble without removing the top half?

and the cat looks good, looks like it belongs on a tur'bd skyline lol.

Raining much there?... im f**k off cause i tried to paint my grille back to factory colour today, and on the last coat it decided to rain, with that much moisture in the air the purple paint turned grey on me, so i just finished stripping all the paint off and will try again tommorow :|

Yeah without the serp belt and thermostat housing the bbm was piss easy to get on and tighten the bolts. Will keep that in mind for next time.

Cat does seem like a goodin, only worry i have though is that its total diameter is a little thicker than factory cat, so it may scrape hardcore. There is not much i can do about it though, once my cars are slammed they stay there.

Yeah man just started pissing down about 10 mins ago, drenched as outside, i was going to put the pacies on, not gunna now.

Yeah i have shopped at Falcom before, they are pretty good for hard to get parts.

Wont be seeing a kit on this ride, she's staying all natural, besides the BA headlights and i'm fitting an EF Mont bar to the front.
