Hey guys,

Havent actually driven yet, becasue of another gay dissapointment. The harmonic balancer seems to be now way out of balance, and its that bad its shaking the serp belt around. I dont want to drive incase it throughs the belt off.

I hate life.

On another side of the coin though, it started straight away, jasons tune seems pretty close, it actually runs by itself so i guess thats a start, but until i fix the balancer i wont be driving. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

And yes, it has i nice lumpy idle, the cam and extractors and even the cat have improved exhaust note with a nice throaty sound, and all in all just seems great.

FKN balancer, i hate you.

so new balancer right? bout $90 aftermarket i think, but can be a royal pain to get on the crank though so dont strip the crank thread trying to force it on or will have even more problems

theres different part numbers for series I EF falcons, and series II EF & EL's..... i dont know why, but be aware theres different fitments for whatever reason?

take this ebay price with you to Repco for example, and start bargaining !!

Good price, i'll do that. Yeah my engine is EF1, so i'll make that clear.

I just did the oil and filter change, and now going to give her a well deserved bath.

yep, the same one i got in my car... and took one mechanic to f**k the crank thread putting it on unsuccessfully, and another mechanic to re-tap thread, and managed to fit the new balancer :|

Got a new balancer today, only one i could get was $100, which was the cheapest anyway. So i went to fit it, but that puller we got only lasted the 1 pull, this time it stripped the thread. Lucky you told me to keep the receipt Dan, so i went and got another for swaps.

Anyway, running well, and about to go for a afternoon cruise test run. Wish me luck lol

Ha ha yeah, not the best quality, but atleast the second one did the second pull, haha.

Just got back from its first drive with new gear, and i gotta tell ya, Galapogus01 did a great job with the guess tune he did for my car. Its pretty drivable, with only a tiny flatspot and a little pinging from about 70-100% throttle from 3000rpm. These will be easily rectified and obviously when i get it dynoed there will be more grunt in it too.

Exhaust note is to die for (man that sounded gay) the headers and cat really made it sound tough. Also whereas before it didnt really want to rev past 3500, it now happily pulls smoothly higher in the range.

Dont get me wrong, i will not be giving it s**t until the tune is spot on, and even then it only gets a poke every now and then, i love my baby, haha.

All in all though i am very happy with what i have ended up with, and will only be happier when i get the real deal tune.

My thanks go out to everyone who helped with this transformation, ya'll know who you are!
