Hey guys,

The past couple of days the car had developed a problem. On the lightedt acceleration, and nowhere else, it started to surge. I went to the wreckers and grabbed a map sensor, and fitted it, but this wasn't the problem.

After consulting a couple of friends, i decided to change the TPS. Fixed it like new.

Also i bought some floor mats yesterday, the factory ones are a bit sad to clean, and i even got some in the same colour as my carpet! I didn't think anyone made a cream/beige floor mate. Autobarn FTW.

Next week i'm changing all the orings in the aircon lines, and getting the regas, so i can fully enjoy my CC. And next is a woodgrain steering wheel, hopefully in a few weeks. Will post pics when i get it. :):)

Andrew.

Yeah I've noticed the surging too... I think it must be common on ef/el/au engine/bbm conversions into ea/eb/ed's... I'll have to swap out my tps with one from a BA/BF if they're the same.

I heard they are different between E-AU-BA series, but i may be mistaken.

I just got another from another EF Fairmont, and it fixed it. I actually grabbed 2, just incase.

They're apparently the same from EA-AU, got one off of an AU this morning and it fitted up exactly the same... didn't solve my surging tho -_-

Bummer, well hopefully you'll have it sorted pretty soon.

Have you checked fuel filter/pump or maybe oxy sensor?

Andrew.

Hey guys.

I think i have pretty much sorted the surge issue, ended up changing the TPS, MAP, and ISC. Still, i can't get it to idle if i follow the repair manual's base idle procedure, i can get it to idle if i don't use the .75 feeler guage???

Anyway, ,y girl bought me a new steering wheel to replace the silly EB one, so i took a few backs, along with a pointless pic of the back left doortrim.

Nice Wheel.

Now you have to do the custom cruise switch mod.

Looking good overall and I actually like the material you used on the door trims. It works well.

Thanks mate.

I was a bit iffy myself on the material i chose, but it has grown on me, and i also think the wheel works well with it.

I am going to do your cruise switch mod, but as my wheel has the holes in the spokes too close, i will have to try and find some quite small toggle switches. Jaycar should have something, i was looking to hooking up these and the horn button this weekend. (i still have to tap the EB horn/cruise column wiring into the EF column loom)

:):):)

EF Fairmont seats are in :D:D:D

They are so much more comfortable than the stupid EB GLI seats. The adjustments all work, and they are generally in better condition. WOOHOO!

I've been looking at where to put the cruise switches, as my steering wheel has holes in the spokes, i'm not sure if i can put the switches there without it looking tacky, they'd have to be quite small switches. I'm thinking i will remove all the wiring and buttons from the EF wheel, and but the required resistors to copy the factory button/loom arrangement, and maybe fitting the new switches in the steer column cover, behind the blinker stalk.

Stay tuned.

Hey hey,

Did an LED dash conversion this arvo, i was going to go blue, but with my needles being orange, and me being lazy, i decided to go bright white. Also for less of the wrong attention.

It looks really good, nice bright white now and not the yellowed rubbish that the factory globes tend to look like. I will put up pics tomorrow.

Also, should be getting a new suspension package tomorrow to install on the weekend. I'm not totally happy with the current setup. It will be replaced with new pedders GSR short body (not short stroke) struts in the front, with the matching pedders springs, and short body shocks in the rear with my springs.

What i'll be acheiving is the same lowass ride height, but i will be gaining some travel in the front and rear. Handling will be considerably improved. While my custom springs do perform well, i still hit the bump stops quite often. Unfortunatly i can't use my springs on the pedders shocks as my height would drop another 30mm, which is way too low.

Hopefully it'll be in and pics up on weekend.

Andrew.

Hey guys.

Well i didn't end up redoing the suspension probably next week, but i did some other stuff. I took out the factory boot light, and installed a 12v flouro, it lights up a whole lot better and brighter, and apperantly uses less power, not that my boot is open all the time.
The photo f**k sucks, but you get the idea.
Image

I took a photo of the LED dash, but it didn't come out, i'll have to try again.

And i did this aswell, not a mod, but shows how a little boredom can turn into great results.

My wiper arms were all flaked and s**t lookin, and the plastic wiper motor cover cowl thing was so faded most of it was white.
So i pulled it all off, and i'm glad i did. Under it showed me all the drain holes were almost blocked with s**t, and this can cause rust. Luckily my car is rust free. A good clean brought it up good.

These are the wiper cowl things.

And here its all painted in stain black and clearcoat, and refitted.

I know the photos are s**t, honestly i can't use a camera for the life of me, but it came up a million bucks. And for the sake of an hour with a beer, i highly reccomend that ya'll check under this cowl for blockages and what not. It could save your car from rusting away.

Andrew.
