Hi all,

Thought I’d introduce myself and my trusty EF Futura.
It’s a 1996 6 cylinder EF Futura, Factory 5 speed. I bought it for $2500 off EBay to replace my 1995 EF GLI Auto. It was advertised as in excellent mechanical condition with a few dents, so I got in the car and had a squiz but never drove or opened the bonnet even (should have).

When I picked it up I was told the clutch needed to be put to the floor and that it was a “common Ford thing” only to find out it was the dreaded firewall failure (bodgied up with a G clamp??). $600 later it was repaired.
I also had to change the Clutch (Exedy HD – From a crap PBR), Rotors (DBA Slotted), Wheel bearings, Rack, Lifters, Muffler, Tyres, Reset the Koni rear shocks and install new top rubbers, Straitened rear springs (were hanging over the saddles), remove the crap bubbled tint, replace the dodgy Extractor gasket, rocker gasket, ISC and much more! s**t! :x

Now im rebuilding an engine for it from a wreck I purchased and stripped. :P
I stripped it down, the block was taken to a machinist where I had the following works done:
*Block: Acid dipped, decked .010, bored .020, line bored & new welsh plugs.
*Crank: Cleaned, checked for cracks, 10/10 grind and polish.
*Head: Cleaned, straitened, shaved, a minor pocket port & a general recon.
*Got new .020 cast pistons (not planning on massive revs or boost...yet). Gasket set with AU steel head gasket, New timing chain, guides and tentioner.

I have also bought a new water pump, head dowels, Hastings chrome moly ring set.

I still need to get a new water outlet base, high volume oil pump, Belts, plugs and s**t. I am hoping to have it in and running by the end of July 2011.

Regards,
Ryan.

Its Holts duplicolour metalcast. Heavy metalic base with a candy blue top coat.
Had a chat to thier chemist and he said it is fine for engines. comes in red and purple too.

I sprayed the dash with stuff from around the shed.
I used some plastic adhesion primer then some high-fill and I used septone guide coat black for colour!

I was bored so I thought why not But had to do it twice because I sanded through when I was cutting it back So it is REALLY shiny...
