na i think keeping the stock colour of the dash with the black spears etc gives it that modified classy look to it. painting the dash would make it look more like a bitsa

Uhm - DL clear repeaters? Is that the LTD? Is there any other way to get clear repeaters going on the side? I've got a spare orange one and was about to sign up with a bloody resin moulding nightclass so I could make my own!!!

yeah dl are the ltd's, but all nf-nl/df-dl fairlanes have the clear repeaters, and el monts share the surrounds with the fairlanes, which increases chance of getting a colour matched guard mould.

but if you learn to make your own thats always handy make a bunch sell some off to cover the cost of yours.
otherwise ratman or someone make some that use the standard design and fit your standard moulds.

Sweet, thanks for the tip... Am going to go see the guy with a wrecked LTD first thing in morning...

Although may look at joining that resin class at nightschool anyway. Could be useful for all sorts of things in future....

Next is to paint the mirror surrounds like the LTDs and finish removing the 4.0l stickers as well as fit a sedan fuel flap.
The question is i want to finish of my EL Mont grill similar to Fordfreak EF but use black mesh instead so do i paint the surrounnd and bar white or black , thoughts please.

The pillars look neat but make the car look very long and high at the back, like a a***. The same long effect occurs when they are painted black.

I think if you painted the grill surround black the effect would be heavy and out of place. I'm not sure about white either, the car starts to lose style and look like you just want everything to be one hue. The current colour to some degree matches the rims. If it exactly matched the rims that might be nice.

Did you paint the door pillars black? I managed to get away with painting the top of the rear doors black also, which brings them up to "level" with the rear window, and in my humble opinion, this moves away from the "a***" type look.

Whatever.

I liked my all white Fairmont EF Wagon with it all white. I never have found the clear side repeaters I want either.

I like the look of what you've done - I've actually moved away from having the mirrors the same colour as the car and have made them black, the same as the window surrounds. Blends in much nicer, although doesn't look as expensive when viewed from directly in front (ie - when looking at your car in your mirrors when being followed by it). I think that is the only angle that having the mirrors the same as the car works from. From the other angles... black black black!

What do I know - I still drive a car with more colours than a liquorish allsorts pack from the 80's.
