Have you looked into the C4 install much?? I'm looking at going that route when the T5 calls it quits.

Nope, was swapped for the current 3000rpm. Part of the deal so to speak. Yes, it aint that hard to do the C4 conversion from what i have seen.

I thought you were doing a tough BTR Brett? I remember you saying you found someone who builds bullet proof ones?
I've decided to stick my EFI cleveland in my van(I know naughty but I hate the 4.0!) and Simon at Allfast Torque converters is building me a BTR he reckons will handle it. It will stay column shifted. I've got some AU EEC's cracked so I'll have engine and trans control integrated.
XHwepn.....Please don't...stay manual...get a TKO or T56.

MV automatic's builds very tuff BTR boxes, he uses BA parts in a E series and holds up very well.

Im actually considering going back to a 4 speed for the extra gear instead of my c4.

Pete, the tough 4 speed in it is strong enough for a 302 or 347, but not for what i want to do. SO it will be AOD or C4. Micky, if you want, willing to trade my 4 speed including converter for your C4. You would need the harness and TCM so it will be a big job i imagine.

Pete, i'm interested in what makes you say that? I love the manual for driving on the street, but i think a well set-up C4 and stall will anhialate on the track. Traction is a BIG issue atm on the track and on the street it is rediculous.

In a straight line, yes, autos would be faster. If you ever intend on taking around a track though, an auto would just be inconvenient wouldn't it?

I like the idea of having full control in a manual. I know they are getting better with the autos in the later models, but the older ones aren't my thing personally.

Yeah well that is just obvious isnt it. But taking an XH ute with the leaf sprung rear end to the track definately isnt on the cards. Horses for courses i spose aye.....

Sorry, wasn't meaning it in a bad way. Was just asking. I have never owned an auto, so have no idea how they would actually perform around a track.

Well, you don't spend 90% of your time at the strip so why have a gearbox that is only good for that. I've had my share of both and I reckon autos cut the driving fun in half easily although I'll balance that by saying I like the intuitive nature of the BTR electronics and I'll try one in my van because I don't really want to use the old toploader in it...it is still the work hack afterall. Besides the GT is manual and the Cougar will be too.
Saying you won't go track racing just because you have leaves is a cop out..I've seen many a leaf sprung car run rings around coil and IRS cars....it's all about tuning. I think you should leave the T5 until it grenades then stick a TKO in it put some big brakes on it and go kick some a*** on a circuit.

Thanks for the offer brett but no, i might just get a overdrive gear installed when they come down in price as there apparently like $5000.00 from AL's race glides.

Saw this running at Crescent on Tuesday, while my ghia was in for service....

That sound is pure muscle car...
I had a sticky-beak at your door trims too.... Thinking of doing the same to mine, but wasn't aware that LWB door trims will fit on the SWB doors. I thought they were different sizes.
