got a momo wheel today, just wanna know, how do i go about fitting it?

The lane looks good man, lucky bugger with the power to weight rules. Even with a nice sounding exhaust, the lane would be heavy enough to allow you to drive it.
That momo wheel, is it a factory ford momo wheel or aftermarket? If it's factory it should just slip on, after market will require a boss kit to fit it. Cheers ToranaGuy

yeah mate, its a factory momo woodgrain one, same as what came in the eb gt (i think)
wat i dont get is, how do i get to the bolt? just pop the horn cover off th one thats on it now (the standard nc one) and get to it there? then how do i go about gettin the momo one on? what part comes off that? lol im lookin at it thinkin "WTF?" feel like the biggest noob |

Take the hornpad off, and you will see a big nut or bolt. Undo it,but leave it on the thread a tiny bit. Pull, wiggle, bash and swear at the wheel until it comes loose. Then pull it off the rest of the way. Reverse procedure with new one, making sure it goes on in the same position. Do the swap with the wheels straight, will be easier. It will all be obvious when you get in there.

You will need to turn your steering wheel 90deg to get to the two little horn pad retaining clips on the back, so turn the wheel, unclip the plugs for the horn pad & slide it off. Remove wiring from horn pad.
Return steering wheel to level & make sure wheels are straight. Then slacken off the nut, i think it's 22mm from memory. Yank, bash & so on, on the wheel to get it off. Won't be too hard if it's been off a few times. Make sure the nut is still on when you do this, a steering wheel to the rib cage isn't cool. Then remove the nut & slide the wheel off. Momo wheel goes on in a reverse order as stated. Cheers ToranaGuy

Also, something handy i noticed while installing my momo,
The factory momo bosskits have a small triangle indicating the top of the boss kit, The steering column where the nut screws onto has a very small notch indicating the position of the wheels, just match this little notch to the top bolt hole on the bosskit and slide it on, if that makes sense? Worked a treat for me, wheel was perfectly straight after bolting it up. The triangle on the boss kit sits slightly to the left of the notch once the boss is bolted down if i remember correctly. |

i couldnt find any triangle indicator thing on my wheel...?
anyway... got the wheel in before finally. went to the old mans work to get something that would fit so i could get the nut off! here's a couple of pics: the car is a bit filthy inside and out atm but she'll be right. I cant believe how different the wheel feels, its awesome! just want to know, how much is the standed leather wrapped wheel worth and is any one interested in it? pretty much is in perfect condition... and here are a couple of dodgey pics of a little something i picked up on the weekend... excuse the crappy quality. plans for that is maybe drive it around for a while then thinking a 351C, 4 speed man, lower it a bit and some 12 slotters... still not sure about it all yet tho. cheers. |

Looking good man.
I have seen the leather wrapped std cruise wheels sell for up to $100 in good condition. The wagon would be fun with a 351c, 4spd & 9inch combo. My mum has a rusty Xd wagon with a 351c, c10 & disc brake 9inch combo in it, that we will look into putting the running gear into something like a Xy ute in another 12 months or so. Cheers ToranaGuy

cheers guys, the wagon went in for a roadworthy check the other day and she basically needs ball joints and thats it... and a few other little things here n there. (like a broken door handle. cant get an xd-f without that problem!)
anyway, im hoping to get my hands on a good set of dc leather seats and door trims around melb area, let me know if u have any u want to sell. thanks. |

now that i have the wagon, i dont have to drive the fairlane everyday so now here's my next great idea...
a complete df or dl ltd interior (or nf/l leather cappa interior) i dont imagine it will be an easy job so i want to know exactly wats involved and what problems i'll have before i hop into it. will i be able to just swap all the plastics? whats involved in putting front seats in and wiring in electrics? does the dash just go straight in or are all the mounts different? how much wiring is involved and can a dumb a*** such as myself do it or is that side of things best left for someone else? roughly how many hours would be involved? i'm thinking the way to go is find a wreck with good interior so i have everything i need. what else do i need to know? any advice will be appreciated! |

The seat rails are completely different. You can swap them over if you want to or you can do a whole lot of welding and fit an EF/L center floor bit. Check out RaceDirectors ED/L Wagon. He did that and it came up alright, will try to find the post on it for you
The Dash should almost fit straight in, just need to add a few wires like the data line into the ECU socket A full Fairlane/LTD would help alot with this. Plus then you can do the door mirrors, chrome strips and all

Well if you do what RD did and use the EF/L center bit, you would also then have the EF/L handbrake mount there all ready for it which is of course non-existant in the early E-series. You will need the EF/L handbrake cable.
