well if it's there in 2 days, I'll grab it :) That's a score and a half... Plus it's only like $350 for brand new gears as they're classed as the VT VX VY VZ SS Gears, and not the FG I6 gears lol so there's s**t loads of them...

Just need to check the cv flange etc to make sure it's true compatible. Which is the hard part considering I'm no where near my car for 3weeks :/

Shouldn't make a difference should it? Seeing as it's not the housing we need, it's just the internals?

Well yeah I guess so...
Though if it were the same it would probably be easier to switch entire units... But yes, just switching internals does mean it doesn't matter I guess...

Does the number of splines matter? I don't fully understand where that comes into play...

Yes the number of splines does matter. Pretty certain they're 28 spline, and the M86 is a 30 or 31 spline.

Well as far as I can tell it will be ok to do an internal switch :)
Just not looking forward to charge for install...

Cheers Uniacidz, have to look into that a bit more. But surely it mustn't be that hard. Diff gear changes aren't that uncommon a thing to do... But yeah, will look into it.

Also, Merry Christmas to everyone... Hopes Santa's elves make good performance parts... :p

I guess if you have an SCT XCAL3 before you go for a tune, you will be fine as you can change the diff ratio in the settings (don't need tuning software for this). IIRC you can also take it to ford and they can flash it to the correct ratio, which will bring the speedo and shift points back in to the correct readings. I'll be quite fortunate, as I'm getting my tune done in 3 weeks so I'll have the tune box for when I do decide to upgrade to LSD and 3.7 gearing. Or I wait until I get cams later next year (after tax lol) and do it all at once.

right its been a really good christmas break so far, had the relaxing part of it already ad now down to the serious stuff lol

just got 'home' to my parents place. Now while my parents are both working 12hour days, i've got a lot of spare time on my hands to do what i came up here for... play mechanic with the old mans toys.

The toys that ill be playing with are my old XR6 AUII ute, an "06 model CRF150F and a "99 XR200R...

Both the bikes with just be getting a general service, then ill see what needs to be done from there. by the look of it at least some new tyres wouldnt go astray in the near future. but they arent really my focus...

The ute...
a long list of minor s**t (havent included everything)... and some not so minor stuff also...
-head lights are full of water
-needs a service
-dad already fixed the leaking fire wall thank god... :)
-desperately needs a clean
-respray the front calipers, and actually spray the rear calipers (if i can get some paint)
-replace the rotors and pads (RDA slotted/dimpled rotors + bendix ultimate pads)
-full suspension kit bought second hand is sitting in the tray ready to go on. though im not overly confident to do it all myself, so i might try the front and leave the rears (leafs) for dads mechanic. unless someone tells me otherwise...
-front bar is a little damaged, so i will be taking it off the car ready for repair/replacement... old man wanted to get a $1200 front bar from wheel king... but i steered him away from it... any help on the front bar would be appreciated. i suggested to him to go full ts50/pursuit/fairute... but i dont know what exactly im looking at for aftermarket bars...
-new oil pressure sender :/
-rust on the chasis rails has also been looked at by a boilermaker that works with dad, so that has been patched as far as i am aware... mechanic quoted about $5000. boilermaker from work did it for a few beers with the old man lol

thats all i can think of for now... but ill keep this updated as i slowly drive myself insane finding more and more s**t wrong with the ute...

Right nowfor my FG, this is the rough plan for the exhaust system... i am going to contact Men@Work soon to ask him if he can supply the whole lot for less then old mate i found on ebay. so hopefully that works out well.. as its a little bit more expensive then i thought it was going to be. im looking at mid $200 for the exhaust and thats before i start blowing holes all though it with the TIG at work lol also need to source a bit of 2.25" scrap ipe to fillsome gaps and fab some bends that will need to be modified for the twin system... should be nice and interesting. i think its going to take a lot longer then first thought too... but oh well, its all a bit of fun and a good learning experience... :)
Image

sorry if there is heaps of typos in here btw, i just cant be F'ed to check it all...

Nice hand writing ;)

Looks good man. Have you thought maybe only have 2 hotdogs (my system both pipes go into the same muffler). Will save a few dollars. Or won't 2 pipes fit into one hotdog? Not sure how wide the hotdogs are lol

I think once you've got my old exhaust, you'll be able to see what areas need to be modified to fit.

haha cheers... i try my best

if i can i want to keep bothpipes completely seperate the whole way through... keep the exhaust velocity up. will cost a bit extra but i think it will be worth it. also, it means i will be able to take one half off at a time to work on it. just have to fabricate a plate to block it off at the y piece :) cause im a tight a** lol
though, i want to put larger hot dogs on there to give a deeper resonance... but the next step up just about doubles the cost.

yeah, i hope its going to be as simple as i think. but i have a feeling its just going to be too good to be true lol
