sorta, ive been been pretty busy with uni and work lately so not much time for other things and stuff like gardeneing and home improvements take precedence.
ive got the front suspension design all sorted out now and the front crossmember is half fabricated. i also got a hold of an atlas diff from a MKI 3.0 capri so i have to sort out moving the spring perches to suit the spacing of the cortina springs.

sounds like a lot of work. I thought it was hard enough to find time to fit just the engine
Do you have any more details on you inlet manifold. thinking of looking for one. I had one but sold it and was brand new with new injectors and new tb Doooh |

yeh it is a lot of work, everytime i start getting somewhere i decide it should be done differently or come up with a better soloution and start again.
intake manifold is a fiesta RS1800 manifold - any manifold that looks like my one from a 1.8l car will do (will have HO cast into the back) be aware though that there is an identicle one from the 1600 and smaller engines that is s**t and will restrict a 1.8/2.0 engine. Mine is brand new also as it came from a crate engine destined for a formula ford in the UK

Have you worked out the wiring for the computer. I'm looking at getting one going with the standard injection but need to work out what needs to be connected or bridged out. Any help would be great

ive pretty much kept the wiring intact so far, ive used the entire loom from the donor mondeo, ive only unpicked the tape and wound back the unused stuff (foglights, abs, etc etc) back to the nearest plug and left it like that so it SHOULD still all work as i have kept all the original sensors. get a copy of the ford technical information system CD (ebay) and it will help sort out a lot of the problem. the biggest problem is going to be the dash loom as around 70% of the wires in it are for fancy stuff that none of the aussie cars ever came with.
Security wise the mondeos are pretty simple, most have NONE, while the later ones with remote buttons in the keys have a transponder chip which i believe is read by the ECU, you can start them with no cluster and without the BCM (only 50% on the last one) so it shouldnt be too hard to get it running, hotwiring one of these is scarily easy compared to a falcon with smartlock

been busy with uni/work but ive got a week off work to study for my exam so ive got my a*** mooving and done some stuff:
first up was to modify the mondeo cluster, i removed the bottom row of idiot lights then cut down the front cover and glued in a new piece of acrylic so it was flat instead of curved, chopped a hole in the cortina dash (im still not 100% sure i wanted to do this but i have a whole junk shell so i can undo this) looked to hard to fit mondeo cluster internals to cortina housings (PCB for speedo to big and id need to make new faces for the gauges) this would have been way less obvious but too hard - other option was aftermarket gauges but im trying to reign in the cost of this project (and get it done faster) should look a lot neater once i make up a wooden fascia to cover the whole front of the dashboard Attachment: IMAG0048.jpg secondly i finally decided id put the front bench seat back in and use the transit MT-75 gearbox (which my 1000hp tailshaft suits - make sure your tailshaft guy is listeneing when you say engine is 130hp or you pay for much more than you need) so i completed the trans tunnel enlargening (the gearbox is funny shaped hence why the tunnel is funny shaped) the u shaped bit of RHS ties together the old trans mounting points Attachment: IMAG0049.jpg just gotta weld it all out now (which ill leave untill later as i may change my mind again or decide i should have done it differently) Attachment: IMAG0050.jpg i made a new (third and final) gearbox crossmember as i got a bit carried away with the second one, ill take a pic next time i pull it out of there, it now uses a falcon gearbox rubber instead of the leafspring eye bushes of the first two, i also made another set of engine mounts that use falcon 6cyl rubbers, but i feel these are too heavy so im going to re do them in cast alloy as weve discovered how to do lost foam casting at work. Attachment: IMAG0047.jpg Attachment: IMAG0051.jpg front end is at a late stage of completion using escort crossmember (seam welded) capri swaybar (capri track is 8mm wider than cortina) escort rack with volvo 240 tie rods (40mm longer than escort and escort forged adjustable TCA's for which im going to get some custom inner sections made to suit rubber bushes as the rose jointed ones are illegal and just dont look very strong, struts are MKII escort, steering column is TF cortina (just gotta get the intermediate shaft re splined to suit the escort uni joint) brakes will be capri 2.8 injected vented rotors - i do honestly hope this time i dont change my mind on this again as this is the best method i can devise to convert to rack and pinion without compromising in geometry or safety You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

progress is going well (on the escort) as it now moves under its own power.
Im having some fuelling problems, either the pump is sucking air or i need a larger suction line from the tank (pump is lower than the tank so no lift pump). im thinking of biting the bullet and building an alloy drop tank with a fuel pump cradle setup out of a falcon so i havnt had a good play yet but early indications are that it would out accelerate my old ED. wiring is still a total mess as i need the fuelling sorted so i can make sure i dont have to modify the wiring before taping it all up. The cortina on the other hand is just taking up room in my garage at this point, once the escort is done i have a grand plan for it.

Cool man, glad to hear it's running under it's own power now.
I've got that trouble too, things in the shed just currently taking up space. Slowly working on that tho. Cheers ToranaGuy

Well, last night while pondering what was up with the fuel system i had the realisation that it would work a lot better if the main filter came AFTER the fuel pump (DUH), so i re arranged everything this morning, and lo and behold it runs a lot better, i got some decent full throttle runs in and im glad to say it goes damn well. it still has some fuelling issues so im going to go ahead and make a custom alloy drop tank. as the standard escort pickup is to small and is causing problems.
In the meantime im going to start finalising the wiring, as the only issue ive found so far is the ECU is keeping the thermos on all the time, im guessing its due to the AC pressure switches being missing, i just need to GND a loose wire or something. Attachment: Dscf7969.jpg
