Well finally i have it up and running.

I changed my fuel pump to the same one as the supplier of the carbs uses on their installs and all seems fine now. Had it running last night for about half hour. will take it for a drive this afternoon. now i just have to get some filters  and get my interior back together.

was running it outside in the dark and 2 of the pipes out of the head were glowing red after running it long enough to chech the thermo fan was working. is this normal?

thats pretty normal... if you can see them glowing during the day then there might be something wrong...

If the pipes are getting that hot it might be running lean. Do you have access to a EGO gauge to check the mixture?

Cheers

I now have another trouble. I cant get it to start if i leave it over night. have to spray some "start ya basturd" down the carbs then starts first go and runs. drove it 20 min to petrol station filled up and it started no trouble. when i leave it a few hours it will not start with out spraying the carbs.

Any sugestions what causes this or how to fix it?

If you need to spray anything in the carb's it isn't getting enough fuel to kick the engine over. I take it once it kicks over it will keep running?

Cheers

ROFL. That's why I'm going EFI on the mighty boy down the track, I'm sick of rebuilding the carby!

The fuel that is left in the carbies after the engine is switched off isn't causing a vapor lock issue is it?

Cheers

Vapor lock is in the fuel lines. Next time it's left for a little while, pull the main fuel line off, wait a couple of seconds, then reattach it. Try & start it & see what happens.

Cheers

Is there a lock off to prevent fuel flow when the ignition is off or engine not running? My mighty boy has a lock off on the carby, i had issues with it a while ago. Had a short in the wiring & it wouldn't open the fuel line up unless the engine was running, which is should when the ignition is on as well as when the engine is running....

Cheers
