Got all the big bits for my next project:
A 2.0 Zetec powered MKII Cortina! So far i have: 2 MKII cortinas 1 partially stripped 1970 with good body, 1 complete but rusty 1969,1 MT-75 5speed manual EX transit van and one smashed 1997 mondeo job for tommorow is to get the mondeo going, as it has no fuel pump (but ive made up an evil contraption with a jerry can and a hacked up falcon wagon fuel pump cradle), it turns over nice, but with no fuel it aint going any firther, Then its onto the fun part - its been suggested that the MT75 will bolt up to the zetec but this comes with an adapter plate for use behind a kent motor, and thats supposed to have the same bellhousing pattern as the zetec so it should be a goer, clutch and flywheel probably wont work,as i THINK the crank bolt patterns are different. Pics willgo up when i take some

Sh*t man, wish I was as hands on as you. I'm still trying to get motivated about a similar project that you previously have done. ({DESCRIPTION})
GOOD LUCK

at the moment the plan is to use it as an economical daily drive will be keeping stock injection and management, and put the powerdyne kit in the garage on my ED for the strip.
couldnt get the car started, apparantly the transponder chip part of the key (remote?) was lost so i had no power to the fuel pump (but then i found the inertia switch, and it had been tripped). once my manual turns up i can sort out what i need to do to rectify all this since i have NFI how the security in these work. i spent today pulling all the looms out of the donor mondeo f**k there is a lot of wiring in that car, probably 2-2.5 times as much as in a falcon of a similar vintage Although it is much more modular, and i didnt need to hack anything to get it out - looks like i should be more than able to completely re wire the cortina with the mondeo looms which will be nice cos the wiring in my cortina is a bit dodgy.Im also thinking about putting the mondeo steering column into the cortina, that way the indicator, horn, wipers will be plug and play with the looms and Body module The job for the week after work is to yank the motor out, then start working on getting the motor and box together - ive hit one snag so far, i need to relocate the shifter 300mm further back on the MT-75.

hopefully this pic works!
todays progress was to drop the subframe with engine and trans attached, just have to cut away some more of the front and i should be able to slide the car back off the engine and trans. mondeo brakes look like a good candidate for a swap onto the cortina as well, but i need to investigate a bit further You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

The zetec engine is actually RWD friendly, crank is already machined to suit a pinto spigot bearing, bellhousing pattern is similar/same as all ford 4cyl engines back to the 60's

Man you really are hands on & work rather fast as well!
Those are 440 corty's yeah? My mum used to have one back in the 70's. Will be sweat with some modern mumbo under the hood! Does the donor car have things like air con & power steer that may be able to be transplanted as well? Would be extra cool to have the modern con's as well. Cheers ToranaGuy

power steering and aircon are on the donor car but neither will be getting transplanted, steering is fairly light in the cortina as is and aircon is the devil, the AC in my falcon hasnt worked for oooh, 30,000 K's now!
subframe has been dropped, once i bring an engine crane home from work i can remove the engine and trans, refit the subframe and suspension roll the wreck out and get my garage back! You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

My air was broken in my falcon for about 50k kms, then i cracked the s**t having all the hardware there & not having the ability to use it, so i fixed it up. Was well worth it. Nothing worse than wanting to go for a cruize on a 30+ deg day & working up a sweat, when you can be cruzin cool.
Cheers ToranaGuy

Man, i can imagine how well that would go! Gotta hand it to the guy who did the swap, that's thinking!
My g/f has a 88 tx5 turbo, with larger BOV, 3" cat back exhaust, boost controller & boost upped to 13psi ,it is one hellova fast little hatch, and it weighs a few hundred Kg more than an escort or probably a early corty! I've had a chance to putt around in the Tx5 a bit of late, and i'm really dying to get my Turbo Torana done & on the road. I just need to feel boosted more often now, it's a damn bug i tell ya! Cheers ToranaGuy
